THEOS POV
It's been 2 and a half months since Shai has been living with me. She's warmed up to me and the new school. She has even made a few friends. In my opinion, her "friends" are just asses but she doesn't know them like I do. She doesn't know what they've done. Her room is simple, but in other ways complex. I helped her redo it when she moved on since I originally used it for my guitar and other things that were not needed in my bedroom. Three of the walls are white, including the one that the door is located on.
Her room. Is basically a theme of white, black, and purple. The walk across from the door is black, accented with a white bead. When I say white, I mean white, excluding the black fuzzy blanket draped across the right end corner.
White headboard, white pillowcases, white sheets, white duvet, and even the white polar bear pillow pet I got her fore her birthday a week ago.
Along with an all white bed, she has two identical white side tables on either side of the bed. Looking at her bed, on the left wall there is a cubic organizer from ikea with purple storage boxes in every other square.
On the right side, she has the door to her closet. Beside the closet door there is a black desks, filled with a purple desk lamp, binders, and all sorts of other things you would find on a teenage girls desk.
I helped her hand pictures all round the room to not make it feel so empty. She insisted of having no photos of family, so we went out and took some of the scenery at the beach, things she called "artsy", random things in Oxford she liked, and occasionally she would have a stranger take one of the two of us.
The steam of my breath hits the door as I pull the lanyard out of my pocket. I look through the many keys, wrapping my fingers around the dorm room key.
I walk into the large dorm, more like a small apartment, and kick of my combat boots.
I walk toward the living room, wandering where Shai went. That is until I hear the creaking of the wooden floor boards behind me.I turn around to see her in her favorite sweatshirt, or my sweatshirt, with warm tears rolling down her soft cheeks. She's vulnerable, I've known it since the first tim we met, the time she lost her luggage. A few days later is when I knew I wouldn't be getting that sweatshirt back either.
"Shai? What happened, are you alright?" I ask as I slowly stand up from the couch. She looks at me with sad eyes and watches me slowly walk around the couch.
When I reach her, more tears come and I let her collapse onto my arms. She's week, so I place my hands under her armpits, lifting her off the ground.
Her legs quickly wrap around me and she barries her face deep down into her neck. "Shhh" I coo, wrapping my arms around her protectively. I rub soothing circles on her back as my feet lead me to her room.
I sit down on her bed with tears running down my arms, a wet spot on my long sleeve grey t-shirt. I pull her head away from my neck so I can look at her face.
Her hair is all over her, sticking to the wet spots on her cheeks from the tears. I run my hands over her face to push her hair back.
"Shai what's wrong?" I ask, once I think she's calmed down a little bit. She bites her lip and hugs me. "Theo... I-I can't tell you. You won't like me anymore."
I give her a confused look. "Shai, there's nothing that would make me not like you. Come on, you can tell me."
She looks up at me and shakes her head rapidly, the tears beginning to come faster. She begins hyper ventilating so I pull her against me and rub her bad soothingly.
Eventually she falls asleep in my arms so I pull back her covers and lay her under it. I walk out into the small kitchen attached to the living room and open the cabinet underneath the island.
I grab the brownie box and lay it on the island. I walk to the fridge and pull out the eggs and butter. I put all the right ingredients into a large white bowl and mix them together. I pour the batter into a non stick baking pan and pop it into the oven.
