Snow and Unexpected Vacations

SHAIS POV

I wake up to sunlight shining into my room from my windows. I look over at me clock and it reads 11:52. Shit. I'm supposed to get up at 6:20 every morning so I have enough time to get ready for my classes.

Just as I began running around my room, Theo gently opens the door and walks in. "Theo! Why. aren't you at class!" I scold. He chuckles and grabs my waste before I lock my self in the bathroom to shower.

"Shai. Look outside" Theo says as I try to escape his hold. He finally lets go and I walk over to the window, peeking out of the blinds. I look down and snow is piled up to about 14 inches high.
"Wow..." I say, amazed by the amount of snow that had fallen over night.

"So no class today?" I ask with a grin reaching my face. "Nope" Theo says as he sits down on my bed. "I was thinking I could take you out to this place I used to sled at when I was younger. It's right by my house so we could stop in. My mother might be home since class was cancelled today but my brothers will be. I have one brother here and one that will be here in two years, the others are off at college. So how does the plan sound?" He asks.

"I love it" I say smiling. Theo and I have a really great friendship with each other. He's always been here for me when I'm sad. He's a great listener also. He rubs my feet while I rant on and on about how much I hate my life; how much I hate my parents. And he doesn't judge. He doesn't judge. Out of all of the people here, I get a roommate and best friend who doesn't judge me on my messed up life.

Theo hops off of my bed and begins to rummage through my closet. He pulls out a tight long sleeve nike dry fit shirt, a pair of yoga pants, his/my crew-neck sweatshirt, big sweatpants, and my north face. He lays all of the clothing on the bed and walks out of my room to the closet near the front door.

Theo pulls out a big bin with hats, gloves, and other snow gear. He pulls out a white hat with a puff ball on the top for me, and a black beanie for him. I watch as he pulls out a pair of red gloves and a pair of black gloves. Theo goes back into the closet and pulls out to pairs of snow pants with suspenders.

"Here" he says handing me a pair of snow pants while he walks back towards my room. "I'll show you how to layer up so you won't get cold." He says laying the stuff on my bed. I undress so I'm left in my nike sports bra and my plain blue jockey underwear. I know what you're thinking- slut, she just basically got naked in front of him so he'll be attracted to her. That's not true at all. If Theo and I weren't that comfortable with each other there's no way I would be standing here like this in front of him.

"Okay baby Shai-Shai were gonna dress you all warm so your toeseys don't fall off" Theo says like he's talking to a baby. I roll my eyes but when Theo holds out my yoga pants, I step into them. Next, he puts the tight dryfit shirt on my upper body. "Now for part two!" Theo says still talking weirdly. He holds my sweatpants out and I step into them just like before.

Theo walks over to my dresser and pulls open the top drawer. He picks out a pair of black nike tall socks and a blue pair of fuzzy socks. "Put the tall socks on so that there under the sweatpants and put the big fuzzy ones over the sweatpants so they close off the ends if them." He says tossing the two pairs if socks at me. I do as he says and put the socks one, one on top of the other.

"Have you ever worn snow pants before?" Theo asks normally. "No, but I've seen them" I respond to Theo. He nods his head as he grabs the smaller pair off the bed. "Here" he says handing me the snow pants. I step into them and pull the suspenders onto my shoulders. Theo comes over and tightens them so they fit comfortably on my shoulders.

"Put the crewneck on and then your north face." He instructs me. I follow what he said and watch as he gets ready himself. Theo walks up to me and slides he red gloves up my fingers and onto my hands. He reaches behind my head and pulls the hair band out of my thick messy bun. My hair falls and drapes along my shoulder as he places the white hat upon my head. With that, he grabs my hand as I grab both of our phones, and leads us out the door

Theo swings open the large wood front door and leads me in to his beautiful home. There is a lake about a quarter of a a mile away from the back of the house that has iced over, and in the distance you can just barely see another large home that sits across. The property is lined with trees and is giant. The house is just as big as our whole dorm building.

Theo grabs my by the waist and pulls me in side. The smell of cookies fill my nostrils and my eyes fly open. Chocolate chip cookies and brownies are my absolute favorite. Theos laughter rumbles through the house and a boy that looks around 16 comes out of the kitchen. "Theo!" He says loud "you aren't gay!" With that I laugh loudly and close my eyes. I fall against Theos chest and open my eyes just in time to see him flipping his brother off.

"Hello Theos lady friend, I'm Kenneth, Theos brother." He says and walks up to my while extending his hand. I gladly take it. "I'm Shailene. I'm Theos roommate."
"Ohhh, so you're Shailene."
"The one and only" I smile.
"Is mom home?" Theo asks.
"Nope. Neither is dad. Here's the deal, mom said that instead of taking the chances of them not having school, they are just calling it off for the rest of the week. She said that there are enough days built in to the school year that you guys won't have to make it up. Anyway, if you guys want to stay at bare-foots, you can for the week." Kenneth says.
"Bare-foots?" I question Theo
"You'll see" he says, "let's get some cookies then head out. Grab a bunch and I'll go out into the garage and blow up the tube. Meet me out there." He says

I tell him ok and do as he says. When I walk out to the garage, I'm amazed. The ceilings are completely vaulted, and it has enough room to fit at least 8 cars. There are two garage doors made to fit tractor trailers and farming equipment. To my left, I see one huge sitting on the concrete floor while Theo is putting the air pump away. I hand him 3 out of the 6 cookies I brought, and we both eat one at the same time.

"Grab that other handle and help me carry it" he says. I do as he says and eat another cookie. We walk out the garage doors and begin trotting down an old gravel road. Eventually we make it to the other side of the lake and I am lead to a small hill beside a nice sized house.

"This is where I came when I was younger" he says pointing to the hill "and this is bare-foots" he says, moving his finger to aim at the house. "Good to know" I say winking at him jokingly. All of a sudden Theo picks me up an throws me on the tube. I shriek as I watch him pull me up the hill. When we reach the top, he hops on beside me and pushes off. We go flying down the hill and I laugh out of pure happiness.

I haven't felt this good in a while.

It's an amazing feeling.
