I crack my eyes open only to find the numbers 1:37 displayed on my digital alarm clock. I sigh as I sit up, pulling the duvet covers off of my body. Grrrrr, of course, I just have to be hungry. I take a step towards the door and suddenly stop as a searing pain shoots up my leg. I look down to find blood flowing out of my foot. A tear drips down my face. Then another. I look around the floor only to find shards of glass scattered from.... Oh. The photo that had been knocked off of my wall remained on the floor. Another tear. I hop over to the door and swing it open, then attempt to make my way down the stairs without pushing the glass further in or putting pressure on it.
I hop over to the sink and pull myself onto the counter, so my foots propped up in the sink. More tears. I watch as the blood picks up a more rapid pace and flows down the drain. I place a hand over my mouth as I take a sharp breath of air. "SHAILENE!" I hear my dad yell as I turn the faucet on, cleaning the blood out of my wound. "Don't." I say as he reaches towards me, anger evident in my tone. "What happened?" He asks taking a step closer. "Oh. Wouldn't you love to know. I'm afraid I can't tell somebody who only cares about themselves and is as selfish as you" I sneer at him, beginning to pull the good sized shard of glass of glass of my foot. "I can handle myself." I finish. I watch as my dad walks away in pure anger, almost as if you could see the steam fuming out of his ears. I pull the piece out of my foot and scream as I do so. I lean back and rest for a minute before I jump down off of the counter. When I jump down, a searing pain shoots up my ankle. Wondering why the pain is now in my ankle, I limp up the stairs into my bedroom.

I step into the bathroom with clean hair. Yesterday was the most hectic, annoying, and disappointing day of my life. Today is the day I guess, the day I'll be leaving my home for 16 years and going across the ocean to a place I have never even been before, let alone lived in before. I plug in my curling iron, letting it get hot before wrapping my thick blonde hair around the wand. Once I've thoroughly curled my hair, I pick up 3 small strands of hair, braiding it all the way to the back to my head. After that, I do the same to the other side, tying both braids together with a small clear elastic. I walk to my closet and look around. I want to wear something that doesn't make me look like a slob, but I also don't want to look like I'm dressing for the oscars or something. A pile of new clothing catches my eye when I notice the brand new jean shirt that I had recently purchased. This was one of the things that I forgot to pack in my 3 over-packed suitcases. I decided I was gonna wear it but the only problem was what pants to wear. I wouldn't be able to wear jeans unless I wanted to look like a big-jean-monster. I floral print count my eye, and I pulled the silky skirt off of the hanger. Perfect. I pull my grey sweatpants down and shimmy the skirt up onto my hips. I slip a white camisole over my head, tucking it into the printed skirt. Picking up the jean shirt, I slid it up my arms, rolled up the sleeves, pulled the bottom of it together, and tied it into a knot. Looking in the tall mirror hanging on the back of my door, I decided on wearing my pair of nude strappy sandals. This is it. I guess I'm really leaving today.

After saying my goodbyes, I hop into the SUV waiting to take me to the airport. I watch as the car passes the trees quickly, making them look like green swooshing figures. I reach into my backpack for my headphones and plug them into my phone.
I don't know where the lights are taking us
But something in the night is dangerous
And nothing's holding back the two of us
But, baby, this is getting serious
Oh oh oh
Detain the dangerous
I listen closely to the lyrics before drifting off into a light slumber.

I wake up to the car door opening. "Good, your awake. I was afraid I'd have to wake you." Says the tall chauffeur standing outside of my car door. "Are you ready?" He asks. I nod and step out of the car, slinging the backpack around my shoulders. "You're suitcases have already gone through and are on the plane, so just get your boarding pass and you should be ready to go. Good luck, travel safe." I respond with a quiet thank you and continue walking into the airport. Finding the place I'm supposed to be, I walk up to the desk and let the people ask me questions and ask for what is needed. After going through security, I take a seat in one of the chairs quietly thinking to myself. I get brought out of my trance by hearing them board my flight over the loud speaker. "Flight 302 to London now boarding. Flight 302 to London will now begin boarding."
