I walked down the alleyway walking home from a long day of school. No one was in here. Only me.

The sun was shining brightly before I entered this path, the alley had tall abandoned buildings blocking away the sunlight. I know what you are thinking. Why am I walking home this way? I have been taking this route home ever since. It was a shorter way of getting home anyways.

Have you ever had that scary feeling when you realize your safe place isn’t safe at all? Well I have. It all happened so unexpectedly.

I have never been worried of getting into danger because in my town, there was no danger. No crimes. It was a safe town.

Well, that’s what everyone had said. I thought I was safe until the day I had started to walk home later than usual.

It was a few hours later than usual when I walked home.

My friend Grace had invited me to eat at a local diner across the street. I didn’t want to say no, so I went.

I ended up having a great time. After hours of talking, I looked at the big clock and it had already been 2 hours.

I said goodbye to Grace and walked down the alleyway like I usually do, but the sun was already beginning to go down when I entered the alley.

I fished out my phone and texted my parents saying that I’m going to be home in about 5 minutes. Little did I know, I wouldn’t be able to make it home on time.

I felt a presence behind me, when I turned around I saw nothing except for the tall old buildings around me. I shrugged thinking it was my imagination, but little did I know, I was wrong.

I continued walking and when I was close to the street, I started hearing footsteps behind me, panicking I started to walk faster, but the thing behind me was faster.

I felt heavy breathing on my neck. I couldn’t move. Is this really going to happen to me? I thought as a knife was pressed against my throat, pricking painfully at my skin.

“Not a single sound or a move or I'll kill you in a split second," a man said.

My breaths came in harshly. I opened my mouth to speak, but the words wouldn’t seem to come out. I was in shock.

I once thought this town was safe and this would’ve never happen to anyone especially me. But ever since this happened to me, I thought this place was beginning to become like hell.
