Chapter 13

No One POV:

"Rain? Rain," Alice called her softly. "What." She said voice wobbly. Alice looked at her sympathetically,"we have to do something about your wounds," she looked at Rains bleeding neck and hand. "I'm fine," Rain told her.

Alice touched her arm. Rain jerked her arm free," I said, I'm fine!" Rain held her bleeding hand over the pipes above the zombies letting her blood drip onto them. She scowled at them," you like that, don't you? Huh? Huh? You like the way it taste, don't you? Like the taste of that?" She tainted them squeezing her bleeding hand.

Hope was next to Kaplan looking at the zombies with him. She laid her head on his shoulder and held his hand," you okay,Kap?" and squeezed his hand gently. He laid his head on hers and let out a small pained smile at the nickname. "Yeah. Just in pain," he told her with a pained filled voice.

He stared at the zombies below," she was right." Making Alice turn to Hope and him. He lifted his head and turned to look at both of them," We're all gonna die down here." Hope squeezed his hand and looked at her mom with sorrow eyes.Alice shook her head ," No. We're getting out. All of us," she told them firmly.

    They started crawling on the pipes, following them to see if they lead anywhere safe. Alice made Hope go in front of her to keep an eye on her. The zombies followed them from the ground. They crawled to a big room that had pipes going different directions.

    But now they could stand up so they started walking on them holding onto the metal wires for stability. Matt was first when he started kicking a gated vent to open it, when he got to it. Finally it went down, Matt and the man went in then Rain and Hope.

     Alice and Kaplan were still walking on it with the zombies growling at them below. Alice looked back," Kaplan? Are you okay?" He nodded breathing heavy. They continued walking when they heard something snap. She turned back," Kaplan? No! AAH!" She yelled out when the pipes broke. Kaplan was half on half off the pipe making the zombies grab at his legs, pulling him.

     "Run!" He yelled at her. "No!" She said grabbing his arm trying to pull him up with her. The others came back hearing screams to see Alice trying to help Kaplan up. "Get out! God!" Kaplan yelled at her screaming in horror. Then the pipes broke completely making Kaplan fall to the floor and Alice to jump at Matt's stretched out arm. He caught her hand, she was dangling off the side of the vent entrance.

     Kaplan was screaming out as the zombies started to grab at him. The zombies started grabbing at Alice's legs," hold on!" Matt and the man were pulling her up by each of her hands and arms. Kaplan kicked the one in front of him making the zombie fly back on the floor.

     Kaplan got up struggling with keeping the zombies away. Hope started searching for her spell book that she had in her pocket. "Help him!" Alice told Rain who was aiming her gun at the zombies near Kaplan. "I can't," she said struggling to aim right.

      Hope found a spell called "dissulta" a spell that causes an object to burst from within itself. "What if it doesn't work like last time? Come on you can do this!" Hope thought to her self. "What are you waiting for?" Alice asked Rain when two zombies went on top of Kaplan who was struggling on holding them back.

"I can't focus. I can't see!" Rain panicky yelled out. A gunshot rang out and one of the zombies fell dead off of Kaplan while the other one was still trying to bite him. Hope took a deep breath,closing her eyes and opened her eyes to show her wolf eyes. She looked at the second zombie that was on top of Kaplan and yelled out," Dissulta!" right when Alice was gonna shoot the other one.

The others looked at her then at the zombie on top of Kaplan, who stopped trying to bite Kaplan. Then the zombies head exploded making Kaplan push him off. Hopes eyes went back to normal when the spell worked. "Oh shit!" Matt said in awe at seeing that with the others agreeing.

Kaplan started climbing up the pipes," Kaplan, go up!" "Come on, Kaplan! Get up there! You almost got it. Keep going!" He finally got up to the top breathing heavy. The others let out the breath they were all holding in. "Oh, you've got it. Okay. Kaplan." "Just stay there." "Hold on. We're gonna come get you. We need to cut this wire, then we can throw it to him. And then we can go get him. Hold on!" Alice told him then to the others.

Kaplan grabbed his gun to check how many bullets he has left. He dumped the bullets in his hand to see he only has one bullet left and the others are empty shells. He scoffed softly," that's lucky," he looked at the zombies trying to climb up, he threw the empty shells at them.

Panting he told the others," I want you to go." The others stared at him. "No. We're not leaving you, Kaplan," Alice firmly told him with Hope agreeing with her. He looked up at her," yes, you are." Hope shook her head," No! We're not!"

        "You can't kill all of them," he looked down at his injured leg then up at them," and I'm not going anywhere. I want you to go! Now! Please. Just do it!" Matt, the man, and Rain looked down and Matt helped Rain up and moved down the vent.

         Hope and Alice stayed looking at him with watery eyes. Kaplan looked at them crying," just do it now! Please. GO-O-O!"he yelled at them. They both looked down and went. Kaplan loaded his gun and put the barrel in his mouth breathing heavy.

       Alice and Hope were walking when they stopped hearing a gunshot. Hope looked down crying slightly and Alice wrapped an arm around her in comfort. The zombie that was climbing the pipe fell off dead.

     Kaplan used his last bullet to shoot him. Kaplan started crying and angrily threw his gun at the zombies. "You're gonna have to work for your meal!" He looked back to see a another path way vent and started crawling towards it grunting.
