After Mia had dealt with Jay, June getting into attire that was somewhat appealing, dinner with Aidan, and a boatload of complaints, all four of them were finally standing in front of a tall building on one of the more expensive sides of the city.
June was dragged into an overpriced penthouse and greeted with drunk teens and twenty year old's. The exact thing one would expect from a college party. Except of course the host and about half the people inside were rich.
"Do I really have to be here?" June whined, still trying his hardest to get out of staying.
Jay glanced at him with an exasperated look. It was a wonder that June still had friends at this point with them not only having to deal with antisocial ass but also the complaints that left his almost every other sentence.
Shaking his head, Jay just shoved June inside the door, leaving the brunette to stumble into the house with a loud thud. A few people froze and just looked at the embarrassed boy with an incredulous look and others, well others were too drunk or high to notice just what was going around them.
"How did we even get invited here?" June wondered aloud his voice breaking over the loud dance music that only made him have more of a headache than he already had.
"Mia."
It was an unexpected response from his almost always silent friend, Aidan.
"Of course. Of course it was Mia. It's always Mia."
Leave it to Mia to be able to not only get away with underage drinking but get herself and others invited to rich kids parties. It wasn't the first time June was dragged along to houses like these or being snuck into a bar while the owner wasn't looking, but June never seemed to be quite comfortable in this type of atmosphere.
June for one was from an average family that had about average income and he wasn't one for partying or even drinking for that matter. It always left a bitter after taste in his mouth and a sense of guilt in his stomach. He could appreciate going out every once in a while but this just wasn't his scene.
On the other hand there was Mia. As much as she tried to hide it, Mia was used to this environment. Not the alcohol and loud music‒though she seemed to thrive in this type of scene‒but the expensive house and booze, which not many could even classify what they were drinking; she knew the quality of each brand but couldn't fathom the price of the bottle because she never needed to.
Of course she had the job at the café but that was by choice, not by need. Mia just wanted to know exactly what it felt like to work for a while. It was just something to experiment with‒as bad as that sounded, Mia had no ill intentions. Plus she never was one to judge people from their background and that made it even more of a wonder how they became friends.
Blinking away his thoughts, he looked at Jay only to find him gone from his side. It wasn't that hard to spot him from the ugly muted orange and green hair that served as Mia's payback. June questioned how anyone could even make such a color, but there it was, existing on Jay's head.
He was already talking to some girls but luck wasn't on his side today as most took one glance as his hair and backed away. Some of them were almost afraid of the monstrosity that was a fault of Mia's genius planning. She knew exactly what consequences would happen when she did that to their friends head.
Despite not being in the best of moods, June laughed at his friend's failure before turning his attention to both Mia and Aidan. Mia has just grabbed a drink before nodding towards a direction with her head silently indicating for them to follow her.
"So you wanna tell us where we're going or are we just gonna wait until one of us drops?" June joked while pushing past the crowd and the sweaty body's that were packed together like sardines.
