Prologue

Hey

So this is just to give a little backstory on what Kellin is like and where he is coming from before we transition into him going to college with Marla.

We all started running down and around the pier. We probably looked like drugged out idiots but we didnt care. These were my friends . My people. I've grown up with these losers for the past 4 years. 4 years of laughs, tears, fights, more laughs and good times like the ones we're having now. Ever since freshman year we called our little group "the wrecklesses". Yeah spelt with a double-you cause we are stupid like that. But somehow it fit because we felt like no matter what or where life takes us this bond we have together would never be broken.

See we all just graduated high school 3 months ago, and tonight was basically our last night of all 6 of us being together. Max was moving to Chicago to start college. Ashley was supposed to go to England to start her fashion career, Maddie and Jake were going to New York to live out there lives together. He already told us he was going to propose to her soon, which is going to be great, they were practically ment for each other. Then off me and Marla to California. Thankfully I'd have her every step of the way. We applied at the same place and both got in so id have her to get through it all. Our flights got mixed up though so she wouldn't be at school with me til next week.

We ran down to the beach and started a bonfire, something we used to do all the time. We've always had the best memories here at the pier. Hell this is where I came out to the group. I really do love these guys. I was lucky to have met them when I first moved to Orlando. Especially Marla.

"So you leave tomorrow, huh kell?" Max asked. You know what I'll give it to Max. He never was the brightest of the group and his attention span was the size of a grape, but hey we still loved him.

"No fucking shit dumbass" Ashley said as she hit Max's arm causing him to wince in pain. " That's the whole reason we're out here, it's our last night we'll all be together. Kellin's leaving tomorrow, then Marla, then me, then you, then Jake and Maddie. We've only talked about this 100 times."

We all started laughing at Ashley's anger. She could get pissed to an extent but she always seemed to get more upset with Max. I think it's how she copes. We've always known she did deep down have a big crush on him but her anger showed otherwise.

"You guys are idiots ... I'm gonna miss that." Jake said as he held an already crying Maddie.

"What's the flight time?"

"7 30 OH MY GOD IF I HAVE TO REPEAT MYSELF TO YOU ONE MORE---"

"ASHLEY!" " Come on. Guys this is supposed to be a happy moment that we can dwell on later in life. It's one of the last times were gonna see each other for a while. Let's just fill it with good times and good vibes."

Damn thank god for Marla. She always was the mother of the group.

"It's not my fault he's stupid"

"It's not my fault she's deranged." Max said in a barley audible whisper.

It got quiet a little bit after that. I mean what were we to say. We would all be miles and even countries apart in such a short amount of time, but what were we to do. We all had lives and dreams and things we wanted to do. I decided to break the all too uncomfortable silence after a while.

"Damn ... This is it huh guys?" I said after another mental run threw i did about how it would be a long time till I see these four again.

"Don't think of it like that. We'll always be a call away from each other." Jake said being his usual optimistic self. Thankfully Maddie stopped crying.

"And a text away, and a Skype away, and an email away, and a ---"

Max rambled until he got hit again in the arm by Ashley. Poor innocent Max.

" Thank god for waterproof mascara." Maddie said as she got up from Jakes lap where she had been crying.

" I love all of you guys. I know that it'll be a while since we see each other but I want you guys to know that ... No matter what happens..." God Kellin why do you have to be such a baby crying in the middle of your sentence. Pull it together. "No matter what happens I will never ... Ever forget us. All of this. All the memories and things we've done here in Orlando."

"Hey wrecklesses forever. Right?" Max said with that big stupid grin on his face that always managed to make all of us smile.

"I know I'm a bitch sometimes but thanks for putting up with me all these years guys..." Ashley said as she started to cry " I love you all so much. Even you Max you big. stupid. fucking." Wait. Oh wait here it comes. The tears on Ashley's face grew into streams of pure sadness.

" You stupid LOSER! OH MY GOD!" Ashley bawled as she engulfed Max in the tightest hug ever. Oh Ashley. Miss dramatic.

We all started to laugh, not at anything in particular. Just to do it.

After a while it started to get really cold. So we decided to head back. I can't believe that'll be the last time we do that.

{THE NEXT DAY AT THE AIRPORT}

After beating the Mcdonalds breakfast rush, we finally got to the airport. I did that baggage bullshit and other airport stuff; then we started to walk around the airport before 7 30. I was really dissapointed that Marla wouldn't be on the flight with me. I told her that I'd wait a week and just go with her but she insisted that I should go and get settled in. Plus she was supposed to see her grandma or something before she left so yeah ... I wasn't really listening.

After a few selfies and disturbing the cashier in the gift shop to the point that he kicked us out, we heard the one thing I had been dreading to hear on the announcement speaker.

"Now boarding for Flight 21 for California."

Oh god this is it. This is truly it. My best friends will be miles away from me in the next few seconds. I don't know how I can handle this.

We headed back over to the entry way leading towards the plane. We were off to the side though a little bit away so people could walk on.

We stood there in silence just soaking up the leave. God I wish we were younger.

"Don't forget about us alright. " Maddie said as we stood in our group. I started to hug each and every one of them, saying my goodbyes, trying my best not to bawl in public. Even if I did i wouldn't care. They were worth it. These guys were definitely worth my tears.

I took one last look at them and started to walk up the way. I just couldn't grasp that this was all actually happening right now.

As I was walking in the distance I could hear something like a yell to get my attention. I turned around to see them, all of them, yelling my name for me to turn around. They were holding a big sign that said "We love you Kellin." The tears I tried so hard to hold back pried at my eyes.

"WRECKLESSES FOREVER!!"

Max yelled loud enough for me to hear and for people to start to stare. I started to laugh a little as they all started cheering and got yelled at by security.

I waved back to my friends and my past and turned around towards what was to end up being my future.

California

Here I come.
