Chapter 3

"I think that's it." Marla said after she stepped down from the chair. We just finished putting away and hanging up her stuff since she got here. I sighed and sat back down on my bed, about ready to go to sleep. I shut my eyes.

"Uh Kellin, what do you think you're doing?" She asked me.

"Um sleeping. You know that wonderful thing where your body shuts down and---" Damn. Is it a hobby for people to cut me off?

"Oh hell no! Princess get up. I've been in this state for only two hours and I plan to explore." She stated while grabbing my arm; pulling me up.

"Ugh do we have to."

"Kellin I'm not going to sit in this room for more than completley necessary. Now come on. Put on a beanie and sweater and let's go." She demanded.

"Well Ohkay Mom." I rolled my eyes. Screw her productive attitude.

"Oh I see Sassy Kellin has arrived. Would you like to finger snap and do a lip smack after that sentence too?" She really knows how to provoke me.

"Girl, I don't have the energy for you." I said as I flipped her off.

I grabbed a sweater and beanie like she told me to, And was dragged against my will out the door.

{A FEW MINUTES LATER}

We got a cab and drove away from the campus and more towards the city. It was really pretty here, especially at night. Lots of places like restaurants, cafés, clothing stores, and even clubs were open tonight and looked like they would stay that way for a long time. For what it's worth, it was probably very hard for someone to get bored right now at this hour.

We got out of the cab on one of the corners near all of the stores and restaurants. I assumed we were downtown by the amount of people here and all of the different sized buildings.

We were both really hungry. So we walked around and decided to go into one of the closest restaurants that didnt look as busy, or at least have a line going out the door. Come on people it's a Tuesday. Go home.

We walked in, got seated, ordered, and got our food very fast.But while I was enjoying the food in front of me, I nearly choked on what I was eating when Marla spoke.

"So Maddie tells me that you have a new boyfriend. Why didn't you say anything?" She asked

I spit into the napkin next to me. Ugh gross.

"Probably cause I didn't know either." I said as I grabbed my water and took a big drink of it. "He's not my boyfriend. He's just a guy that I met and could potentially be a friend." I clarified.

She gasped and squealed in pure excitement. "Oh my god. Who is it?"

"Well his name is Oli. He's British. Current president of his frat house. And may or may not have invited me to a party they're having on the weekend." I said and took another bite of my food.

"Are you kidding me?"

"Nope." I said while popping the P.

"We're going right?"

"We?"

"Yes bitch we! You think I'm not coming too?" She said all defensive.

"Plus I was already invited." She said nochalantly.

"BY WHOM!" She's been here for a day, what even.

"Oh just Mike." She shly said looking down at her food.

" WHAT!?!? You met him once. I was there."

" I ran into him when I went outside to go smoke." She blushed.

"Oh god." I said less than impressed.

"Don't be a Hater. He's sweet." She smiled.

"I don't even think I'm supposed to go to the party." I stated. "Mike said i should stay away from him."

"Really why?"

"I don't know. Something about him being trouble, or something like that." I pushed away my finished plate.

"You don't have to talk to him. You might not even run into him."

"I know right. I'll be fine. Mike worries to much."

"Yeah. Do you boo." She said as she stuffed her face with the rest of her food.

"Wow Marla, you're so graceful." I laughed.

"I'm not trying to impress anyone right now."

"Oh okay then." I said acting offended. "Jesus! How are you so skinny?"

"I don't know." She said as she finished. "Kelly? Buy me ice cream after this."

"Ugh. Let's go."

We got up, payed for our meal, then left the restaurant. Downtown was still as busy as ever. So we got into a cab to head towards the beach area.

{AT THE BEACH AREA}

This side of town was a lot nicer. Colorful flowers and trees littered the area, along with lights and music; even a small amusement park that led on to the beach. There were still a bunch of stores and places like that all around, but a lot less packed. It was more chilled out. ... kinda like our pier back home.

It was starting to get pretty cold but someone still wanted ice cream. After that, we found a bench close by the ocean.

As we sat down I couldn't help but start to think of our old friends and how much I missed home. Sure it had only been 3 days but still.

"I miss them." She said, Almost as if reading my mind.

"Me too."

She leaned her head on my shoulder. I could smell her ice cream breath from here. Wow thanks for that.

"We'll all be okay though right? We'll see them again?" She asked sadness clear in her voice.

"Course we will Mar. Max did say forever."

We both laughed at the memory.

Yeah. Forever.
