𝐀𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 Pope pulled into JJ's driveway, gunshots were heard immediately. The girl rolled her eyes knowing that the blonde was probably using the gun he took out at the boneyard party. She didn't know where he got it from, but she knew that no one should trust that boy with a gun. He wasn't the responsible type and if she was being honest, he still had the maturity of a twelve-year-old.

When the two got out of the Porsche, Francine noticed that JJ's father's truck wasn't in the driveway. After knowing that Luke wouldn't be home, she almost sighed in relief. The girl only met that man once in her life, when she was ten, and to say she was terrified would be an understatement. Even if back then, when Francine assumed he didn't hit JJ, he still looked like the kind of man who would beat his kid. She was happy that she didn't have to run into him again.

"We won't go through the house, JJ doesn't like it when we come around here," Pope mumbled to Francine, his face cautious as he looked around the area frantically. She noticed that today, Pope seemed to be on edge, she would be too, but why was he still nervous when he was on the Cut and the only kook around was her? Francine assumed it might be something that the boy does normally, but she wasn't sure about it. Pope grabbed her hand and led her to the backyard, where they assumed JJ was, he kept his head down as he walked.

Pope's odd behaviour was starting to worry the girl, even though she knew what he was nervous about. Shouldn't he be used to getting in trouble and breaking the law? He should be, he's friends with JJ and John B, Francine was pretty sure the blonde began shoplifting when he was seven years old. She couldn't understand why he was worrying so much over all of this, sure, he could go to jail or get fined. But if he got fined Francine was sure she could pull some strings around Figure Eight, and she could probably bail him out if he had to.

Francine shook her head, ridding her mind of the thoughts on why Pope was so nervous and she glanced around the property. It looked much worse than it did when she was last here, she wasn't sure if the mess was only caused by the hurricane but she doubted it. Even when she was living on the Cut, JJ would do most of the yard work while his dad was out. She'd help him out sometimes and even her parents came too. The house resembled a shack more than a home and the shed looked like it was about to collapse eny second due to neglection. She looked to the woods where her and JJ's 'secret path' was, but it was all grown over. That's how JJ used to get to her place so fast, the path was a shortcut, instead of going all the way around using the road

Once Francine and Pope turned the corner, they figured out they were right. JJ was, in fact, in the backyard. He had a pair of noise-cancelling headphones on and the gun was in his hand, shots ringing out of it, using a teddy bear for his practice target. Francine couldn't help but let her mind wander to how he looked a tad bit attractive in the position he was in. He looked badass holding a gun, better than he did at the party. She quickly shook all those thoughts out of her mind though. She didn't need to be thinking that JJ was hot, it wasn't the right time, or the right person. It didn't linger in her head for much longer, knowing that JJ hated her with a passion.

Sure, the thoughts went away consciously, but her subconscious was still paying attention to the slight flex of the boy's bicept as he pulled the trigger. She'd probably think that about all the pogues though, John B, JJ, and Pope, even Kiara. She didn't know what happened to them, but puberty did the group wonders.

"JJ," Pope yelled as the pair got closer to the blonde who was staring intently at the bear he was shooting at.

JJ didn't seem to hear his friend as he kept his gun pointed at the stuffed bear, "What was that?" He shot the gun, talking to the bear, he was probably oblivious to the two other people with him.
