I got up grabbed my keys and drove to the school and picked up Alec then drive back home. Once we were inside I started to cook dinner for the three of us until Rio arrived. Soon enough there was a knock on the door and I opened it expecting Rio only to find.....

Y/n POV
I opened the door expecting Rio only to find my ex. Ryan. I went to close my door but he put his foot in the doorway. I stomped on his foot and he just pushed the door open. I walked backwards with a scowl on my face. He just looked and me then towards the three plates sat on the side then he looked back to me and said "who are you expecting?" I looked at him for a second and replied "it's none of your business" he looked at me up and down then said "I think it is my business but we will talk about that another time" he winked at me than placed a piece of paper on the counter then left. I looked at the paper and it had an address on it. I looked up the address and it was a hotel around 2 hours away but it's not like I was going to actually go there.

I heard my phone go off and I looked at it to see a text from an unknown number and it said " I wouldn't go telling rebound boy toy about this or things could get ugly for both of you 😉" . I didn't know what to say or do and I couldn't move from looking down at my phone even when it turned off I just looked up staring out the window. I heard another knock on the door and didn't move. I then heard another one and shouted "who is it?" With tears starting to fill to the brim of my eyes. I heard "it's me" from the other end and realised it was Rio. I told him to come in and he did. As soon as he closed the door I turned to him and he started walking over to me.

I felt a tear run down my face and Rio held my cheek wiping away the tear with his thumb, which didn't matter much because I started crying more, I hugged him and he hugged me back hold me close to him. He asked me what was going on and I told him about how Ryan showed up and what he texted me. He asked me how I knew him and I said he was my ex. He then asked "why are you afraid of him?" I then said " when we were dating the first few months were fine but around our seventh month of being together he started drinking and hurting me, I tried to just leave but he locked me inside at all times. He would come home late and..." he stoped me and said "hey hey hey it's ok you don't have to" I nodded and then continue but skipped out that part "eventually I made a plan and tried to escape but he caught me and I ended up locked in his basement for months. He wouldn't feed me a lot of the time because he forgot but there was water bottles everywhere and I would barely get meal once or twice a week. Eventually people noticed that I went completely missing and started asking questions, at least that's what I had heard, and the police showed up and they trashed the place even more that it already was and eventually found me almost passed out in the basement tied to a pipe. They helped me out and Ryan went to jail but I didn't feel safe there anymore so I moved here and I thought I would never see him again but.." Rio rubbed my back with his hand a looked me in the eyes when he said " I won't let him touch you. I won't even let him go near you and you won't ever have to worry about him coming back" I nodded with tears still in my eyes and hugged him again.

I heard a timer go off ruining the moment but also telling me dinner was ready. I wiped my eyes and pulled back from the hug then went to take dinner out of the oven. I put the plates down on the table and was about to dish up dinner when Rio said " why don't you go clean yourself up and get Alec to come down for dinner while I dish up hm" I nodded and walked upstairs. I walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror thinking about everything. I wiped my face down and then went to go and get Alec. We walked downstairs together and Rio was sat at the table with the food on all three plates. I said to Rio "here he is." I whispered in to Alec's ear and said "do you know who this is?" He shook his head and I said " this is you dad" he looked up at me with a small sparkle in his eyes and said "really!?" I nodded and he ran up to Rio. (Yeah I don't think I mentioned this but Alec is 5 years old) I watched them talk while I went to go and get us all drinks. I got Alec a juice, I got Rio a scotch and made myself my favourite jack Daniels and coke. I walked over to the table and heard them talking about football. I gave them their drinks and sat down with mine.

Once again I just looked at them while they talked and could see how happy Alec was and I was happy. I was genuinely happy like this. I saw him laugh with Alec and then gave me a glance and a smile, I smiled back and felt happy that he was here where as originally I was terrified but it looked like this was fine. For a moment, a single moment, I finally felt happy and complete.

Guys.... I'm back!!!! Now this will be the earliest update you will probably ever get but it doesn't matter because I decided to continue the book and now have plans for it. Ok then that's it, I hope you liked it and there will more frequent updates soon 😁🙃 cya next time
