Against the Current

another day, another dawn begins
a new hope, a spirit of light within
its amazing awe attracts my mere eyes
exerting the power we have inside
I gently perch my eyes to such a sight
I take a short leap to soar in smooth flight
the beach and its calm moods are so peaceful
listening to the tourists and seagulls
I share these moments with my family
when it seems like this life is hard to breathe
reality is boring, mundane, sad
though the moments we cherish are glad
my sanctuary is a lovely place
we rest our hearts when life seems like a race
I gently smile as my love walks out
a scene that is so charming, when we doubt
I turn my back on death and the dark past
embracing the light of the future's last
life may get harder.. but we get stronger
we keep moving forward.. as we ponder
no one will understand what it is like
to live in hell, feeling lost in a hike
enduring being homeless or an orphan
doing work to get by, for a portion
they only think about themselves, not them
afraid to lose all of their precious gems
but those who are lost do find who they are
they are kept low key, under the radar
reflecting on what is real and fake
to mature and teach for all of our sake
this journey is full of many wonders
that we have ever yet to discover
I feel the spirit flowing through my veins
such a beauty is so hard to explain
I believe in the good, when bad exists
against the current.. I seek after bliss
these mountains from above are majestic
I descend and crash down to domestic
this reflection of this duality
these illusions shatter calamity
each piece of this puzzle will be glued in
we must do what we promise on the tin
these tensions deflate for the time being
as our vision clears, and we are seeing
I hope to send this message to my friends
express your true colors, stand out from trends
make a difference no matter what size
what matters most is how you make more tries
the waves listen and settle under the moon
as we prepare for what might happen soon..
