It was exactly 4:45 pm the sun was slowly setting, I had officially completed my task in the office and it was time to head home. I yawn loudly feeling very exhausted, I had been physically and mentally working my ass off for the past 3 months now. The exact amount of month I had been single and making the most of it.

Immediately after I broke up with Damilare I felt this sense of freedom wash over me. I never felt this good about getting rid of my boyfriend it's not like he was keeping me emotionally sane in the first place. I was just glad we were both off to our separate ways And to prove to myself that I was never going back I blocked him and deleted his number.

He was the only one I made sure not to keep in contact with. In other to make sure that the thoughts of him don't occupy my mind, I began to do something productive with myself not just to keep my mind away from him but to also improve my working skills and work ethic as a journalist in training. I was working as an assistant content creator, editor, and a presenter at the University of Lagos radio- newsroom (Unilag radio).

{Unilag radio also known as Unilag FM operates on 103.1 (MHz) frequency. The radio station exists to educate students and the general public and the radio station is the first Campus radio to receive a license and the first to go on air in 2004, Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria.}

At that time, the only reason why I had that much time and energy to dabble into all of that was because all universities were on strike. And even though the first semester for 300 level had just began for all school all of that had to be put to hold because the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) called a nationwide strike.

{Academic Staff Union of Universities know as ASUU,  it's a body organization by the federal republic of Nigeria for all the university in the country Nigeria. It was set up in the year 1978, a trade union set up to fight for their rights, good working conditions in the universities.}

This Strike was a way lecturer protested against the federal government due to the inadequate payment of monthly salary. That was what we were told but trust me I knew there was more to it than meets the eye. As a result of the Strike, all classes were put on hold and my classmate and I took it as an extra holiday we all gladly accepted, thinking it would last just a week or two.

It's been 3 months now since ASUU hasn't called off the strike and the University students in not just Unilag but in Nigeria were getting restless. In order to keep body and soul together, my classmates began creating small and medium-sized enterprises. This was to keep themselves busy at least pending when the strike will be called off. For those who couldn't create a business when ahead to work in an already established company saving them the stress of having to look for capital to start up a business.
