*three years later*
I woke up next to Nico, who was still snoring softly next to me. I decided I was going to make him breakfast. After around seven years of living with him, I've never made breakfast once. Today was my day. I was making pancakes. I mixed the batter and it looked pretty good. I started making them on the stove, and in my opinion, they looked amazing. They were perfectly golden brown. Now, I'm making Nico's favourite biscuits. That's where it all went wrong. I put them in the oven but cooked them to a crisp. Smoke went billowing out of the kitchen, setting off the smoke alarms. I was standing on one of the dining room chairs with a towel, fanning the alarms so they would go off.
"What in the hell is going on out here?" Nico ran into the kitchen in his boxers. He took note of me on the chair and the blackened biscuits on the counter. "Did you...try to make breakfast?" he asked, stifling a smile.
"Don't make fun! I wanted to do something nice for you!" I defended myself.
"Okay, okay. There's a button on the smoke alarm to make it turn off. It's painted green," Nico pointed, then walked over to the backdoor and pulled it open and set up the fan so the smoke would go away. "Let's fix it."
After about 30 minutes, Nico helped me finish up the biscuits. He walked over and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Thank you for making me breakfast, la mia luce. It means a lot to me."
I kissed him on his forehead and he smiled. He smelled like biscuits and pancakes, and I love the way he makes me feel. He rested his head on my chest and closed his eyes.
"I love you, Will," he murmured.
I rested my chin on his head. "Love you too."
