Part 9

I ended getting back really late. I expected Nico to be home. Katie said she works as a medic at a summer camp but since she got back she has been swamped with work. She really liked what I had to say. One thing that surprised me was that she had green hair, it was very un-doctor-like. She seemed super nice, I wanted to be her assistant, she said I was perfect for the job and she would contact me in a few days after she finished interviewing everyone.

When I got inside, the apartment was dark. I looked around but Nico wasn't anywhere inside. He probably just got stuck at the shelter, he--

My thought process was cut off when I saw the note on the fridge. My stomach dropped and I knew if I tried to talk, my voice would get stuck in my throat.

Will, buddy,

I didn't like that you had Nico quit and go to the police.

Now, I'm back.

Bring my money, tell the police and your husband is dead.

I picked up my phone and called Nico. No answer, I sent a text to the group chat and told my friends to come over. No way was I doing this alone.

The Gang

Me: Guys, Luke has Nico.

Me: Come to my apartment.

Alex: What do you mean 'has Nico'

Me: There was a note on our fridge, he was in my home. He took him.

Piper: We will be right there.

Percy: Everything is going to be okay, on our way.

Jason: Deep breaths, Will.

Ten minutes later everyone showed up. I was pacing back and forth across my living room ranting. "The police didn't even tell us he was out! Nico is gone! What am I supposed to do?!" I sobbed.

Alex stood up and took me by the shoulders. "We'll find him."

"We just have to figure out where he is," Leo assured.

"And how are we supposed to do that?" Percy questioned.

I felt like I was going to be sick. Annabeth sighed. "We give him the money."

Magnus coughed. "Where are we supposed to get it? We don't even know how much."

"10,000 dollars. That's how much," I said. Everyone's head turned to me in confusion. "That's how much he was sued for when Nico sent him to jail. He wants the money he paid back, but I don't know where Nico put it."

"We use the money from Chase Space. There is easily that much there. After we pay him, we contact the police. However, he will know if we contact the police, so we can assume he has a bug or something," Annabeth said.

"Another flawless plan by Annabeth," Hazel said as she held Frank's hand.

"Wait for a second, I don't mean to debunk your plan or anything, but how do we know this will work, how do we know this 'bug' isn't giving away our plan?"

Annabeth grimaced. "We don't. We cross our fingers and hope for the best."

It was only later I realised that Piper didn't say a word throughout the entire meeting.
