With everything set and ready, Anna boarded her ship, along with Kai and some of the other staff. Kai had always been important to Anna, being the head of the servants, and being one of her only friends for so long in the castle. The Captain set course for the Southern Isles and the crew untied the knotts that kept the ship to the dock, and they set out.
Days later, they arrived in the Southern Isles. Upon unboarding, the were promptly given a tour of the Kingdom, and shown the rooms they would stay in. The scheduled meeting about negotiating a trade deal and alliance would be set to be the next day at noon. It was a cold February day and there were still about three inches of snow on the ground from the storm a couple of days back. The roads were shoveled but the grass and non-walkways were covered still, enough snow to build a snowman with Elsa she thought. In the castle they had hot cocoa and talked with the King of the Southern Isles.
"Again, I am really sorry about my son's behavior." He pleaded.
"Oh don't worry it's in the past," Anna reassured him. "And you had nothing to do with it."
"Oh thank you for understanding your majesty." He thanked her.
"Plus, if your son had never done what he did, my sister and I wouldn't as close as we are now, so in a way, he made everything perfect kinda," Anna said.
The next day they had the meeting, and everything went well, they struck up a treaty/deal that mainly benefited Arendelle. The King was so desperate to get Arendelle's allyship that he upfronted a deal that would greatly benefit Arendelle. She and the King went on a nice walk in the snow that had begun to flurry around them, and they both knew that Arendelle and the Southern Isles would have an amazing future together. Anna asked the King if she could see Hans and talk to him, which he agreed and she went off to the stables. However, she never expected what she would find.
When she got to the stables, she found some nice little horsies, one of them being Sitron, Hans horse that had orchestrated his plan of her falling in love with him. She rand the little bell that hung outside the stables, getting the attention of the man in the stables. A smiling Hans came out, and he didn't fret when he saw Anna, he only kept smiling.
"Hello, your majesty," Hans said. "It's been a while."
"Hans you- I thought- you'd be angry at me and want to throttle me, why do you seem so happy- not that happiness is bad I just- I didn't expect this reaction."
"Things have changed Anna, would you like to have dinner with me tonight? I can explain everything."
"Um sure... I have to get the go from your father fir-" she was cut off
"No need," He said, "I've been wanting to fix things for a while."
What was he talking about? What had happened to him? This wasn't the Hans she once knew. He was happy which Anna was happy about but she didn't think it seemed like him. This had to be a trick.
A second later, beautiful black haired women walked up to Hans and kissed him on the cheek.
"Is this Anna?" she asked him.
"Yes, it is," Anna replied back, "Who are you?"
"She is my soon-to-be wife," Hans told her, "She's wonderful and I didn't propose to her the first day I met her. Her name is Kristen."
"Oh I- nice to meet you, Kristen." Anna said.
"Nice to finally put a face to the stories." She said.
Anna and Hans went to a nice little restaurant called Sambo's, and they sat down at a table facing across from each other. As they had dinner, Hans told her everything he had wanted to tell her for over three years.
"Anna first off, I just wanna say I am truly sorry for what I tried to pull at you sisters coronation," He said, "But over the years, I have learned quite a lot and found what life is really about."
"Oh," Anna said, not expecting an apology.
"When I got back from Arendelle, my father was told what had happened, along with my brothers, and the rest of the kingdom. As punishment, I was sent to the stables to do work with the horses, every day except Sunday, for two years. It sucked at first, it was awful having to work ten hours a day every day shoveling and pitching hay. But as I did it, I eventually didn't hate it anymore, and it made me feel good and accomplished that I was actually doing something. It felt better than doing royalty things."
"Oh wow," Anna said. "So you mean like... you feel like you are actually doing something?"
"Yea, since I was thirteenth in line, I didn't even have much to do in royalty." He said. "I thought that if I ruled Arendelle, I would actually be able to do things, but after I did, I instantly regretted my scheme. I had a lot of time to reflect on my decisions in the stables. Plus I was able to get out a lot of my anger by hacking away at the ground with my shovel when no one was looking. Eventually, after a year, Kristen came to the stables, looking for a horse to get. At the time, I wasn't completely happy, but I was better than I was in a long time. I showed her the horses and she looked at all of them, trying to find the best horse for her. After looking at all the horses, she finally came to buy one and named her Freya. She came for more visits over the months, and eventually, we grew very very close to each other, and then we started dating."
"Oh wow," Anna said. "Well I'm happy for you I guess, what happened after that?"
"Well my sentence ended and I was free to go back to the castle and resume normal life, but I chose to stay in the stables because I genuinely like being there, the working felt like I had a purpose. I realized that my purpose is not to rule a kingdom but to settle down with Kristen and have a meaningful life. Plus, I'm already a prince, and that's enough" The two talked over dinner for a couple of hours, and finally, Anna told him that he could come to visit Arendelle if he ever wanted to and that he was no longer a capital criminal. However, she would have to reassure Kristoff (and the Royal Guards) that Hans wouldn't cause any trouble.
Anna left with a feeling of satisfaction, after all the years, she never wanted to make things right. But now that she had, she felt better about everything and felt like she did the right thing. Plus, Elsa would never know that this happened. She went back to Arendelle with a feeling of peace as she had gotten an amazing trade deal from the Southern Isles, and fixed her odd ends with Hans. She was always happy to forgive everyone, and this showed why she was a great queen and an amazing person.
