Queen Anna sat at her finishing up some work for the night. It was around 10:45 PM, and she was ready to finally sleep after a long day of tedious paperwork. It was late January, the end of the trading year, which meant that all trade deals, allyship, and alliances were looked over and revised before the new year would begin. This meant she was at her desk ten times more than usual, and Kristoff had to take care of the people's problems because all the documents needed signature and approval of the head market. All around her there were inch-thick packets from Kingdoms in Spain, Germany, France, and everywhere else in Europe that you could even imagine. The United States was even trying to inch there way into a trade deal with Arendelle.
"Just one more document" Anna said to herselfShe mulled over that packet for a half an hour, until finally signing it off and about to go to bed. She put away her ink & quill, stacked all the papers up, and wiped the mess of ink off of her right hand. She was so ready to get that much needed rest, when suddenly she heard a knock on her office door.
"Come in...?" She asked, too tired to think of who it could be.
It was none other than the lead servant and loyal friend, Kai.
"Kai?" She asked. "Shouldn't you be at home?"
"Today is Thursday your Majesty," he replied. "I always stay overnight on Thursdays."
"Oh that's right." She recalled. "So... what is it?""We received an urgent message from the Southern Isles," He said, holding a rolled up piece of parchment paper.
"Oh," Anna said back, she was surprised to the Southern Isles would even bother to send them a message. "Well lets have a look then shall we?" She told him, already too tired for it to even make a difference.
She took the paper and undid the seal, opening up the letter. In it was a message from the King of the Southern Isles that read:
To her Royal Highness of Arendelle, Queen Anna,
I am writing to you at the dawn of an upcoming trade deal, to ask you to consider starting an allyship, and maybe even a trade deal with the Southern Isles. As you know, after your little mix-up with our youngest Prince, you might hate us, but I hope that now since some time has passed, you would consider the possibility of a future deal together. I hope that we can put the conflict of the past behind us, and open up the possibilities of something great. Ever since the re-opening of the gates, Arendelle has sporadically grown and increased its economy under Queen Elsa. We understand that your sister loves you dearly, but I tried to make odd ends meet before, under her rule, but she simply would not consider it, saying how my youngest son hurt you and lied to rule, and tried to murder her and seize control of Arendelle. No matter how many times I stated that was his own doing, and that the Southern Isles was very ashamed of his behavior, but every time she always said: "No one hurts my sister." But now that you are in charge, and you are much more forgiving and loving than your sister, I hope we can sort something out. If you are willing, come to the Southern Isles a week after you get this letter, which, if no delays happen, will be on a Thursday. We are expecting you and ready to give you a warm welcome, please do not let us down.
Sincerely,
King George of the Southern Isles
"Oh wow." Kai said, as Anna finished reading it out loud.
"Whoa," Anna reacted. "Hans was awful but that was not the Southern Isles doing right?"
"Yeah I tried to tell Elsa that, but she was unwilling to forgive them."
"I'm sure that's not true, Elsa is a very forgiving person."
"Not when it comes you she doesn't. If it was something about her or her kingdom, she would brush it off, but if it was about you, she would never let go of it. One time, the Ambasssadors were here from Italy, and one of them said that you were too childish and energetic, and she shut down the meeting and vetoed their proposal." He told her.
"Oh jeez," Anna said. "I can't imagine how she reacted to the King of the Southern Isles then."
"It was professional but... not very kind." He told her. "But this was before she started getting more comfortable with everyone, she wasn't a mean Queen, people really liked her. He assured her. "Some of the kings and princes liked her a little... too much." He awkwardly said.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Anna curiously asked.
"I'll explain later, right now we need to deal with this proposal." He said.
"No need," Anna said. "I'll give them a shot, everyone deserves a second chance, and it would fun to go anyway. Plus we can see how Hans is doing now."
"Alright then your majesty," Kai told her. "We shall leave in three days time. And I am assuming you want to see your sister before you go."
"Yes of course," Anna said. "But she's coming tomorrow night anyway."
"Alright," Kai listened. "You should probably get going to bed."
"Yeah I'm super tired." She told him. "Goodnight Kai."
"Goodnight your majesty." He replied, and got to bed himself.
Anna laid down in bed exhausted after a long day out, and was happy to finally sleep.
