Its 8 am. Saturday morning. Im so lazy to get up because its that time of month. Its so unfair that us women have to go through pain and men get to have fun. Anyway, I decided its just another lazy Saturday so i grab my laptop and watch some friends. I go to my mini fridge and grab some coke and chips. Half way through the first episode I end up in the bathroom grunting and moaning at the pain hitting my uterus. After several transactions of pain I decide to take some pills to settle my period down.
Friends episodes pass and pass as my eyes drift off into a deep sleep.

I awoke from a noise. Sounded like a horn. I looked out side my window and seen that Calum was beeping. I told him one sec with my finger and I ran down my stairs and unlocked the door. Calum stood there soaking wet from the heavy rain.

"Mind if I crash?" He asks .

"Um sure. Whats up?" I say suspicious.

"I couldn't pay rent for this month so my room mate kicked me out." He sighs.

"Hm. Its alright Cal. You can stay as long as you would like." I say smiling.

"Thanks." He has no emotion.

I groan from the sharp pain.

"You alright?" He stands up alarmed.

"Yeah. Just that time of month thats all." I say walking slowly to the couch.

"Oh." He says laying on the couch.

Basically Calum and I have been friends since 2nd grade. You might think "wow they are such great friends" . No thats not quite it.

-FLASHBACK-

It was 10th grade. We were both almost 16 and were stoked to start another year of high school. A least thats what I thought. The first day back I searched and searched for Calum. No where. I was worried sick. Calum never missed the first day back , it was always a tradition we spent together. We would always go to John's Burgers after school to celebrate another year of horror. But today was unlike any other.
Before my teachers could see me I went to the janitors closet. I waited for all the kids and teachers to disappear into their classes. The silence began and I slowly opened the door. All you could hear was the dishes being washed in the cafeteria. I could see the door only 5 feet away. I made sure no one was in sight and sprinted to the door. Fear had token over me. When the door opened and my feet hit the dry grass I was grinning so big. I ran as fast as I could to the closest bus stop. After a couple of minutes of waiting in the hot summer sun the bus arrived. I dug in my pocket for 2 dollars and handed it to the driver. The bus reeked of sweat and the sun shone horribly bright through the drivers windshield. I squinted and sat in the very back where the air condition beamed loudly. I started to text Calum. Still no answer. I was horrified. I have no idea what could happen. What has happened. The bus stopped at a corner store only 1 block from Calum's home. I decided to grab some food because I had not had breakfast . I found a hot pretzel and melted cheese . I took that and treated my self to a slushy and onion ring chips. My total came 10 dollars because I had gotten some food for Cal too. You could hear the News coming from the TV screen. I looked up and most of it was about politics. When I was about to leave, the news announced a very tragic car crash that killed both the drivers or victims. My heart stopped. I ran as fast as I could to Cals house. I was easily losing my breath because I hate running. I spotted his dads black Honda and I sighed with relief. I rung on the door bell and Mr. Hood answered the door.
"Hello Tori." His voice cracking . You could tell by his puffy eyes and broken voice that he had been crying.
"Mr.Hood are you alright?" I say my eyes full of worry.
"Come in. Calum is upstairs." He says grabbing his coffee and vanishing to his corridor. I shuffled up the steps with the snacks and slushys. I knocked on the door but heard nothing. I busted our secret knock and entered the room.
"Calum?"
"Cal?!" Still no answer. My eyes shifted to the black haired boy sitting in the darkened corner quietly whimpering.
"Calum? Calum whats wrong?" I say putting the snacks and slushys on his dresser and dropping to the floor.
"Im sorry.." He whispered. "IM FUCKING SORRY." He threw the lamp across the room and I shrieked. His head fell into my chest as he started hard wet sobs.
"She... Shes go-" he stopped as he choked on air. He coughed and I handed him the water on his bed side table. He chugged it all.
"Tori.. My mother is gone." He says continuing the sobs. I froze. "What?" I whispered so shocked. "wh-what do you mean shes gone?" I say my heart racing. "She died in a car crash this morning while getting groceries. " he hugged my shoulders tighter. I couldn't feel the pain because of all emotions taking over my body. I did not know if i should cry, scream, whimper? All i did was sit there with my best friend cradling my shoulders.
-Flashback Over-
Two years it has been since she died.
Calum and I are close to graduating.
His dad became a drunk and Calum fled the house of his crazy nights.
And now Calum is homeless.
This is how we ended up here. In this horrible situation that Calum and I will never forget.. This is why Calum doesn't communicate well. He hasn't been happy since the day it happened. And I wish I could fix that.
