Chapter 6

Chapter Text

“Damn, you look like hell.” Breeze stared, her eyes wide as Izuku nodded. He didn't think he could actually feel worse today than he had the night before, but he was pretty sure he was going to die at this point. He was freezing cold, bundled in a coat Bakugo let him borrow with a hoodie beneath it, his cheeks bright pink, and still shivering like a leaf. He was sweating again, and felt terribly weak, leaning against Bakugo for most of the trip, asking almost constantly if he could just pay for a cab so Bakugo didn't have to bear his weight.
“We're taking today off.” Bakugo looked over, seeing Breeze look at him with curiosity. “I'm taking care of him until he recovers.”
“He got a flu or something?” Breeze crouched down and Izuku instinctively pulled away, surprising her. “It's alright. I'm not gonna hurt ya.” She grinned, feeling his forehead. “You're clammy. No cough.” She looked at him with curiosity before Bakugo grumbled.
“You don't gotta worry about it.” He looked over to her, and Breeze stared back in shock.
“But... he doesn't respond to glares. How in the hell is he in subdrop?” She stood up, confusion turning to panic.
“I said don't fucking worry about it. I'm taking care of him.” Bakugo grabbed a few things from his locker, part of the reason they'd come by here, besides dropping off at the other office to let Izuku's other mission leads know about his change in status.
“But he's one of my sidekicks now too. Shouldn't I be allowed to worry about him?” She grinned, and Bakugo nearly snarled, slamming his locker door closed as he pulled the bag over his shoulder.
“Fuck off, Grey. I'm just here to get a few things to help him out and we're heading home.” Bakugo looked more wounded than angry at the words, but Izuku reached out, softly patting his arm.
“Don't worry about it.” He said softly. “We're just here to report, then we're going home.” He watched as Bakugo looked at him and sighed, not saying a word, but the nod and relaxation at those words put Izuku's nerves to rest. Izuku giggled at the sight and stood, the blood rushing from his head leaving him a bit dizzy. Bakugo reached out to grab him, surprised when Breeze reached him first, sliding her arms around his chest.
“He's so cold! We need to get him to first aid!” She looked over to Bakugo, who stared in surprise.
“I'll take him.” Bakugo reached for him and Breeze lifted him in her arms, shaking her head.
“I'm faster. Come on.” She turned and ran, leaving Bakugo staring with fury shaking in his hands.
He followed behind, though as soon as they were at first aid he grasped her arm, stilling her. “I'll take him in. You go to work.” He looked up, liking the whole situation less and less by the second.
She turned, raising a brow, the whole of the situation dawning on her more and more. “Ground Zero, why are you staying home to take care of him? Where's his dom?” She asked, more amusement seeping into her eyes as she leaned against the wall beside the door.
“I AM his dom, give him to me.” Bakugo stepped up to her, only to have her step away, keeping Izuku just out of his reach.
“He's yours? He wouldn't even respond to my glare, and you think I'm going to believe he's responded to you? To be honest I thought you were a sub until I checked your file again. You're too insecure, too nervous. You have no desire and no power in your glare, and you think you have what it takes to control him, who hasn't responded to the glares of the top heroes at UA?” She laughed, missing the panic that flashed across Bakugo's face.
Bakugo turned, running into the aid room, leaving her staring in confusion before she looked down, seeing Izuku unconscious in her arms. “Ah, shit.”
It wasn't long before he was conscious again, the medics who were mostly trained to deal with broken bones, lacerations and scrapes a bit excited to have this change of pace. “He's conscious. Deku, are you alright?”
“Dizzy...” He mumbled, wrapping his arms around himself, freezing. “Kacchan?” He looked around, feeling the arms slide over his chest seconds later.
“I'm here.” Bakugo softly said into his ear, leaving Izuku a bit more relaxed. “Answer the questions, alright? We need to make sure you're alright.”
“Okay.” Izuku hummed, his eyes closing as he leaned back, letting out a sigh.
One of the doctors leaned forward, feeling his forehead, feeling him regain a bit of his temperature now that he was conscious. “Are you in any pain?” He asked and Izuku hummed, shaking his head.
“Do you feel dark or sad at all?” Another one of the men asked, seeing the dazed look in Izuku's eyes, though again he shook his head with a smile.
“How long has it been since your last play?” The first doctor asked again and Izuku shook his head for the third time, this time making the doctors wonder if he was simply shaking his head. “No?”
“I've never had the kind of play you're talking about. I've only had a glare work for the first time last night, and I'm still trying to recover from that.” He admitted, opening his eyes to look at the doctor who stared back in surprise.
“Never before yesterday?” Izuku shook his head and the doctor looked over to Bakugo. “Can I try?”
“Only.... for this.” Bakugo grumbled, and Izuku looked, realizing Bakugo was seated behind him with his arms wrapped around him. He was holding him, his legs crossed to keep him enveloped in him again, leaving Izuku snuggling back happily.
“Deku, Crawl.” The doctor's glare was strong enough that even Bakugo felt the tug of it in his chest, though Izuku shook his head, reaching up to hold into Bakugo's arm.
“You crawl.” He mumbled, closing his eyes again.
Bakugo relaxed, surprised to realize he was actually nervous about it, but now he knew for sure. He felt Izuku's weight against his chest and sighed, feeling him slump. “I think he's falling asleep.”
“He's still in recovery. It may take a few days for him to be back up to full health. He'll need to take off a couple of days, at least tomorrow. You should stay with him.” The doctor looked over, writing down on the paperwork that was brought in for both of them, not willing to risk Izuku's health over Bakugo's want to return to work, though honestly, after seeing him faint, Bakugo wasn't about to leave him alone.
“What do I do? I've never dealt with this before. I'm new.” He looked between the two who looked at him in surprise before looking at each other, trying to figure out how to explain this.
“Keep him happy. Keep him warm. Tea or coffee is good, but some prefer soups. It all depends on what he likes. Give him things he's familiar with.” The doctor said, though he didn't miss the worry that shot across Bakugo's face at that. “What?”
“His apartment was destroyed by the crystal quirk user the other day. Complete loss. He needs new stuff, so nothing familiar.” He grumbled, thinking. “I may be able to get something, but...” He nibbled his lip, thinking to himself for a moment. “Alright, is there anything else that'll help?” He looked between the two, surprising them.
“Keep him happy.” The other doctor said, a smile on his face. “Keep close, make sure to keep him in good spirits. No glares unless you're going to follow through, and talk with him. Make sure he's feeling safe and happy.” He watched as Bakugo stared, swallowing nervously.
“I ain't good at this shit. Fuck.” He scooped Izuku up in his arms and started to the door, leaving the doctors staring a bit amused, but also in shock at the nervousness that one of the most ferocious sidekicks could show.
Though he stilled just before heading out of the door and turned back, trying not to look too far, hiding his exasperation. “Thanks.” He mumbled before walking out, leaving the two quite amused.
“I don't think I've ever seen anyone in here asking for that kind of help. That was fun.” One of the doctors looked at the other before they both grinned laughing.
Bakugo carried Izuku upstairs, knowing full well he'd be pissed if he didn't make sure to at least let them know that his situation had changed. He was barely able to knock at the door, though he stared in surprise when Aizawa opened the door, stepping back to let him in when he noticed the sleeping man in his arms. “What happened?”
“I'm still trying to figure that shit out.” Bakugo sighed before looking up. “He's on a special case. I need to speak to whoever's on it. There's been a change.”
Aizawa looked at him for a second before looking at Izuku. “Does he need to go to the medical wing?”
“Just got out of there.” Bakugo looked up. “It's you who's on it, isn't it?” Bakugo watched as Aizawa nodded, turning and waving Bakugo to follow. It wasn't long before he was in a small office, one Bakugo could tell was a temporary place, probably just for the summer months while he was away from the school. “What's the change? What happened to him?”
“Subdrop.” Bakugo sighed and Aizawa's eyes widened.
“Shit. He hasn't even made contact yet! How in the hell-”
“It wasn't like that.” Bakugo grumbled, pulling back a little bit. Aizawa stared, his panic tapering off a little as he started to realize. “He was fated to me. We didn't know.” Bakugo looked up and Aizawa stared.
“And... you put him into subdrop bad enough he's passed out?” Aizawa stared, astounded at how bad Bakugo was at this. “You were always a wonderful student, Bakugo. Your attitude is shit, but I didn't think it was THAT bad.” He looked at Izuku and Bakugo grumbled.
“It wasn't like that!” He yelled out, exasperated. “I didn't want him to leave without hearing me out! How in the hell am I supposed to let my sub just leave and maybe never come back? He needs me!” Bakugo held him tighter, stepping a bit harder against the wall and Aizawa stared.
“So you glared too much so you could keep him there to listen, but never went too far.” Aizawa realized. “And with your complicated past, he probably would have hated you if you had. You did the right thing, and you're just hearing how badly you fucked up.” Aizawa plopped down in his seat, sighing as he rubbed his head. “I swear, you two aren't my students anymore. You're not supposed to be giving me this much trouble anymore.” Aizawa rubbed his head, thinking. “Take him home. We don't need him for a week. We'll bring him in for testing to make sure he's still viable for the mission. He's going to be glared at a lot, and may be put into more intimate situations. He agreed to these before he had a dom. I guess we'll have to make sure he'll still be willing.”
“He will.” Bakugo sighed. “It's a mission. It's separate from his private life.” He looked up, not willing to take Izuku from this mission. He knew what was at stake, and he knew what it meant. “He's not going to back out, and I'm not going to ask him to.”
“Good.” Aizawa sighed with relief. “We really need him for this. If having a glare work has compromised him, we may not get another chance like this.”
“He'll be able. He just needs to recover from this first. I'm taking him straight home.”Bakugo looked down and Aizawa nodded.
“Good. You two rest up. Get used to each other like this.” Aizawa watched as Bakugo nodded before turning and realizing he couldn't open the door.
“Fuck this.” He grumbled, shifting Izuku around to lay chest to chest, with Izuku's legs around his waist, but it gave him a bit of freedom to move a hand for a second, at least to open a door. By then Aizawa was almost around to get it for him and stared as Bakugo managed to open the door. “See you around, Teacher.” He looked over his shoulder as he headed out the door, leaving Aizawa sighing.
“I'm not your teacher anymore.” He mumbled before closing the door, knowing some important calls needed to be made.
Bakugo managed to get the front desk to get a cab and got him inside, finally relaxing a bit as he sat, his arms still around Izuku who straddled over his lap, his chin resting on Izuku's shoulder. “Kacchan?”
“You're safe.” Bakugo said softly. “I reported to Aizawa. We're going home.” He looked over and Izuku nodded, nuzzling back into his shoulder.
“Alright. Thank you.” Izuku mumbled, closing his eyes. Bakugo let out a soft breath, surprised at how fulfilling this was, simply holding and protecting him, making sure he was taken care of. He wrapped his arms a bit more around his back, closing his own eyes.
“If Breeze tries to take you away from me again I'm gonna kill her.” He grumbled and Izuku turned his head, opening his eyes to look at Bakugo.
He looked serious. He reached up, though it looked like it was a struggle. Bakugo reached to help, as it looked like Izuku was so weak as he lifted his hand, sliding it to Bakugo's cheek. The touch brought a blush to Bakugo's face, leaving him looking at Izuku in surprise, his hand over Izuku's, cradling it tenderly. “You're really glad it was me, aren't you, Kacchan?” He smiled, the twinkle in his eyes leaving Bakugo's heart pounding as Izuku nuzzled in, pulling Bakugo's head closer with his hand. “This may be the sweetest I've seen you.” He practically purred, and Bakugo closed his eyes, wrapping his arms tightly around Izuku's chest.
“Shut up.”
