Request for revenge?

It has been a day since I had gotten that dream. Even though the pain of knowing my parents are gone still lingers, it's not nearly as bad. However, the second half of that dream is still bugging me. It may be how I ended up here, I died in my world and now I'm here; typical isekai anime plot point. But what led up to that point is still a mystery to me. Who was that person who pushed me? Or was that a dream interpretation of something else entirely?Whatever, I'm alive here now and I actually feel happier.

At the moment me and the boys are at Libeccio and waiting for Bruno to come. He was called in for something and told us to go on ahead. I was reading a book while Mista is currently theorizing that human flesh would taste awful to us since we eat meat. Using the kind of logic that meat from animals who are herbivores taste better because they only have a vegetarian diet.

"I see, that is rather convincing" Abbachio said.

"That whole thing in novels that say that human meat taste good is an absolute lie" Mista said.

"Well, I eat more fruits and vegetables rather than meat" Narancia said with a nervous look.

"Yeah, me too" I agreed with him.

"Hah! I bet you two would be rather tasty then" Mista said with a laugh.

"Don't enable him you two" Fugo said with a sigh.

"But another thing I learned is that eating humans is actually rather dangerous" I said thoughtfully as the boys looked to me now "there is actually a disease you could get if you ingest the brain of a human. The disease you would get from eating a human brain is similar to that of mad cow disease. It's fatal."

"Really? Where did you learn that?" Nara asked.

"I read quite a bit of dark history and creepy cultural lore from around the world" I said as I held up the book I was reading. It was a book of early medical practices; you know, the kind where they thought mercury could cure ailments if ingested and lobotomy's could cure mental illnesses (don't look up this stuff if you're faint of heart, it can get quite gross, I just wanted an excuse to put that little factoid in there.)

"Didn't really think of you as the type to be interested in such things" Abbachio hummed.

"I'm full of surprises once you get to know me" I said proudly.

"She really is" Anna remarked out of nowhere.

That's when Bruno walked in with a somewhat troubled look.

"Buccirati, you're late" Abbachio said.

Bruno then told us that Leaky-eyed Luka was found dead and that he was told to look into it by Polpo. I smiled to myself 'it's about to all come together'. Nara scoffed saying how much he hated the guy, that he sold drugs to kids and that he deserved to die. Bruno told him not to say such things out loud because of what they do. Fugo then asked if Bruno would like him to look into it instead but he declined Fugos offer.

He then looked to the other room where a short older man was waiting. 'But I don't recall this part' I thought looking over to the other room too. He runs a flower shop and had just lost his only daughter. Fugo had helped the man over to the room we were in with Bruno near a window. The man promptly apologized for coming alone. Bruno had then asked the man if he pays his taxes that he owes to the country on time, to which the man answered positively. Bruno then told the man that he should go to the police with his issue, which confused me. He then said that once he gets involved with him, he would fall into more debt with Passione than he could imagine. But the man didn't budge, he was a good man who believed in and followed the law and raised his daughter with good morals. He asked if they could speak in private but Bruno had refused and said that he puts a great deal of trust in his team.

The man then went on to tell Bruno about his daughter. She had a boyfriend that was older than her and a sculptor. That didn't bother the man but he never introduced himself to her parents or introduce her to his parents, so the man didn't really like him. Then, not long after, she jumped from the roof of his apartment with a strange sculpture he made. The man then burst into tears and fell to his knees in grief. Bruno had gotten up and went over to the man. After apologizing for losing his composure, the man opened the bag he had with him and requested that Bruno avenged his daughter. The bag was filled with stacks of money that he was willing to pay for this act, which shocked Bruno and the rest of us. Bruno then asked the man if he was implying that this was a murder since he never heard word of such a thing happening. The man said that the police ruled it off as a suicide and refused to look into it further, but the man was convinced that she wouldn't do such a thing. He begged Bruno to make her boyfriend experience the same anguish that he was feeling.

"Life is full of hardships. Though I do feel for you, I can't do such a thing" Bruno stated as we were all listening more intently "do you think we are a bunch of assassins that would just lynch anyone?"

"Everyone in this town relies on you Bucciarati. All I am asking is for rightful punishment!" The man exclaimed.

"Rightful punishment? Florist, earlier you asked if we could speak in private. That was because you knew how dangerous this conversation would be, correct?" Bruno said as the man flinched and looked down "but when you say that it's something only her family would know, I can't take that lightly. To think that no one in the law would be moved by those words to act in the last six months, I find that unbelievable" Bruno sat back down at his seat "the least I can do is make this man talk. I will ask for payment once we find him guilty. Does that work for you?"

The man ran over to Bruno and kneeled on the floor and held his hand in appreciation.

"Mista! I would like for you to look into this." Bruno said.

"Sure thing." Mista said as he got up from his seat.

I closed my book and put it onto the table to take a drink of water. I then looked over to Mista and saw him looking at a strange round rock that was on his seat. When I looked closer, it had a kanji for 'bad luck' carved into it. 'That's strange' I thought as I saw Mista touch it lightly only for him to jerk away and look at his hand as if it had injured him.

"Mista, make sure you put that back" Abbachio said.

"Eh? Did I knock it of the stand or something" Mista asked clearly confused.

"That's strange, why would a random sculpture in Italy have kanji carved into it?" Anna asked me.

'Anime logic' I thought 'or maybe it was imported?' I then had an uneasy feeling in my gut as I thought about it 'but something about this feels so familiar...'

"Mista, Bucciarati says we can drop you off part way" Fugo said and Bruno was saying a goodbye to the man before he left.

Mista picked up the rock and put it back on the stand behind him. The three of them walked out to leave.

'Something doesn't feel right...I need to go with them.' I thought while getting up myself.

"Where do you think you're going?" Abbachio asked as with an intense stare.

"I...I need to go with them" I said.

"And why is that? You aren't even an official member yet, just because you live with us now doesn't mean you can do as you like" he said firmly.

"Well, Anna is a part of Passione, so there's that loophole" I said with a shrug only to receive a glare "I feel like something is going to go wrong, I need to be there with them for reassurance. I won't get involved if that's what you're worried about but even if things do take a turn, I have my own stand to protect myself."

"Tch, whatever. Go ahead, I'll let Bucciarati deal with you" Abbachio gave me a dismissive wave.

I nodded and quickly ran out to catch up with them. I saw them just outside and I caught up to them.

"Bucciarati! Please let me go with you guys!"
