Waking up from a restless sleep, you turned around to see if John was still there, he was not. But, turning to the byzantium coach, where Seraphina was hugging the plush bear, which you still called {Y / N}, you did not get answer after all, and her eyes shut tight. Stretching and letting out a yawn, you leaned up and left the comforting, fire-like warmth of the makeshift bed. Cold air hit your arms, leaving goosebumps. Worry started to grow like weeds in the cracks of your mind, as you scanned around John's house for where he was, for where he could be. After throwing some water in your face to freshen up slightly, you continued around, careful to also not wake up Seraphina.

Eventually, John strolled through the door, a white, plastic bag swinging at his side. At the same time, Sera began to stir and rub her eyes.

"Where were you?" You asked.

"I just got us all breakfast, sorry if you got worried."

"Well, you were up early then."

"I couldn't sleep that well..."

"Did you have a bad dream?"

"I'm starving, shall we eat now?"

You and Seraphina looked at each other, puzzlement painted on both of your faces.

After getting changed, you three sat around the table and began to eat. The silence was deafening, John had not said a word since he came back from the convenient store. You gave a glance to Seraphina, trying to sway her to try to get some answers out of John.

Surprising to you, Seraphina seemed to already be on the edge of interrogating John and so began, "John. Are you alright? You've been acting weird today."

He hung his head low. You could not see his eyes, and it was as if a cloud of ash blocked away any light from his eyes.

"You know if something is bothering you-"

Abruptly, John interrupted her, his voice was dark, demanding, and quite frankly in that moment where you were not expecting it, petrifying, "I told you I'm fine!" John seemed to realise his mistake as he began to apologise.

However, Seraphina cut in, "It seems like... You need some time alone. Come on, {Y / N}."

"Wait {Y / N}, Sera! I didn't mean-"

"See you tomorrow."

You could not form any words so walked away with Sera without a word. Peeking back at John before fully exiting through the door, it seemed as if the cloud covering his eyes, was now positioned on his head.

Descending the stone stairs, you pulled the emerald door close behind you. Sera's phone buzzes, she fishes it out of her bag than whispered 'oops' to herself.
