'𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐈 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?'

Strolling into the History classroom, you sat down in a different spot then normal. Normally, you were next to John, but you were unsure on if you (or more like Seraphina) and him are on good terms again. The air in the class was full of anxiousness, people were biting their fingernails, sweat washing down people in waves, it was as if there was enough to fill the ocean. You felt as hot as a fire in the gr(e/a)y sweater.

Growing more and more nervous, you took out the notes and scanned over them, waiting for the teacher to come into the room. In your peripheral vision, you noticed John kept glancing at you, eyebrows knitted together. Concern playing in his eyes. But, what caught you off-guard was the people chatting around you. Whispers echoed around the room, haunting everyone's ears. It was impossible to ignore. It was impossible to not hear in. So, you did.

"So apparently, Seraphina beat up Arlo at Turf Wars yesterday!"

"What? But that's friendly fire! She can't do that!"

"Yeah, she's been breaking a lot of rules lately. What's wrong with her?"

Shock ran down your spine as you considered talking back to them but one thing stopped you: what could you say? Even though the two of you were friends, you did not know that much about her past, you had asked but she was not keen to say, which you respected.

"She doesn't go to class anymore, and she chopped off all her hair and dyed it. Plus, when was the last time she went to Turf Wars and took it seriously?"

"Exactly! Everything about her has changed and now she is nothing like she was before-"

The teacher ambled in, resulting in the class to quieten down. She gave out some booklets and said in a stern voice, "You know the drill: no talking, no cheating, such as using phones, etc, etc. Just, start."

An hour and a half of terror and fear went by like it had a weight on its foot. You got up from your seat and skipped out the door, over the moon with the dreaded test finally. Going further and further down the corridor, you were abruptly halted by a hand on your shoulder and swivelling you around.

There, you saw John. "Hey {Y / N}, I'm sorry about what happened at the weekend. I didn't have a good sleep and that put me on edge..."

"It's fine. Have you apologised to Sera? It was her you snapped at, not me." You questioned, slightly hesitantly.

"Yeah I have, we're going to get lunch, want to come along?"

"Sure." You two began to walk down the corridor, feet leaving behind little tats as they walked down the length, but that sound was not enough to drown out the whispers of the people chatting, and by class on its itself, you knew it was about Seraphina. John had also noticed as he glared with piercing, golden eyes at the people whispering. "So," You trailed out the 'o' to catch his attention, "that history test was absolutely horrendous."

"You can say that again. I've definitely failed it, even after all that cramming."

"Same. Honestly I don't get half the material in that class."

"Exactly!" The conversation between the two of you lasted throughout the corridor, dragging out one point into a ten minute conversation to not have to talk about the rumours that were being exchanged around the two of you.

Taking a large breath of fresh air, you walked around the area. Finally knowing most the area meant you often strolled around the place, especially to clear your head after school or if you needed a break from homework.

Breaking your slice of peace, the cell phone buzzed within your pocket. Letting out a sigh, you pulled it out to find it was your mother.

'Odd.' You thought, 'Why would she be calling me for anything? She would prefer my brother for sure... And when has she ever called me out of the blue?'

Putting on a joyous voice you picked it up, "Hi m(o/u)m! How are you?"

"You don't have to act cheery, I know you're confused. And, I'm good." The phone seemed to blurt out.

"Why are you calling then?" You said in a much more neutral tone.

"I've heard a rumour about your brother being in the area."

"Which one?" You asked.

"Which one do you think has rumours about? Which one do you think would actually be anywhere near Wellston?" She snapped back.

"Okay, calm down slightly. But isn't EMBER here? That's seems a bit idiotic."

"And when has your brother not been with this vigilante business." She makes it a statement, not a question, you realised how often she does that, "If you spot him around, talk to him, he hasn't been answering his phone at all and with this whole EMBER thing. And,-"

You decided to cut her off, "And, tell him to stop doing what he's doing, I know by now m(o/u)m. Is there anything else you want to say?"

"No I don't think so {Y / N}. I have to get back to work. See you during the holiday."

"See you then."

The phone let out a click. You let out a breath you were not aware you was holding. You let your hand place the phone back in the pocket. You let your legs take you back home. You let your mind run free with worry for your brother.
