how to love

I have been a nurse for three years and I enjoy every minute of it. It really means a lot when I help heal people. It makes me feel great that I am making a difference in this world even if its not something major like discovering a new cure for a disease.

Recently I started seeing the new Doctor that moved into town from Alaska. He needed an assistant of sorts so I offered my help and that is how we got to know each other and began dating.

Carlisle and I have been together for a few months and I feel helpless. I mean I love him with all my heart it's just I have never had a real relationship, all the other times I was "dating" someone it wasn't real they were just using me to make someone they liked jealous or it was a bet.

"Hello, sweetheart" Carlisle greeted me as we clocked in and headed toward his office.

"Hello love" I greeted back.

He opens his office door for me and allows me to enter first. He follows close behind shutting the door behind him.

"There is something we need to talk about," he says as he gestures for me to take a seat while he sits halfway on his desk beside me.

"Alright," I say as I take a seat and look up at him.

"There is something I need to tell you. It's very important that you keep a clear mind about this and try not to freak out which will be easier said than done. But I ask you to try." 

I nodded my head as I sat there waiting for him to tell me what it was that he needed to tell me.

"You know we have been seeing each other for a few months now?"

"Yea."

"Well With how things between us are getting very serious I wanted to let you in on a secret."

I said nothing just waiting for him to continue.

"My family and I are not human, we have been alive for a rather long time, some centuries."

"So you are immortal?"

"Yea, we are immortal."

"How immortal are you?"

"Vampire."

" Are you wanting to kill me or cause me any harm?" 

"No never, I could never hurt you and intentionally mean it."

"Are you evil or good?"

"No I am not, nor is any of my family, we are the good kind of vampires."

"Do you not drink from humans?"

He shook his head

"Then how do you get blood?"

"Animals. my family and I are what I like to call vegetarian vampires. we fed from animals while others feed from humans. You will learn more about everything that has to do with me and what I am."

I sat there taking it all in and I freaked out a little. He came over to me and calmed me down as he explained what I am to him and how he has waited for a very very long time to meet me. He told me how if I wanted I could meet the rest of his family which is his adopted kids.

After I calmed down and collected myself I looked at him.

"I can't promise you that from here on out will be a perfect relationship. I have never had one quite like this so I am very new to this, but if you are willing to take your time with me and allow me to learn how to be in a romantic relationship then I will learn how to deal with all the things I will find out from you about you being a vampire."

"I will help you through everything and anything you need. We can take as long as you like. and thank you for willing to learn about me and not screaming like I am murdering you. I do ask that you keep what I tell you a secret no one can know."

I nodded my head

"I won't tell a single soul what you shared with me, your secret is totally safe with me."

He smiled and kissed me. which got me to think about how will things be when it comes time for us to be sexually intimate, will he be able to do everything a human can do or will it be greater than human sex?
