‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾ A morning after ☽༓・*˚⁺‧͙
Shark rolled over onto his side, opening his steel, navy blue eyes to gaze at this sleeping figure of his wife: you. He reached a hand over to brush aside a strand of your messy hair that had fallen over your closed eyes, before resting his palm over your cheek.
His eyes settled on the window on the opposite side of the wall, the gentle hue of the golden sunrise peak through the gap in the curtains you'd chosen for your shared bedroom and he knew the other Barian's in the home would be awakening soon. You couldn't afford to move out of the Kastle twins' childhood home, so it had been refurbished to accommodate for the six new residents that were the other Barians and you.
Though all the Barian's had accepted you and Shark as head of the household, you were in charge of most of the new design choices when the house was upgraded. Shark never objected to any of your choices, he wanted evidence of your presence in every room in the house, so he could always be reminded of you when he entered a room. After graduating, most of the Barians, including Shark, had gone into professional duelling alongside Yuma, so you had stable income coming into the home and a happy found family to keep you company.
Shark swiped his thumb gently under your eye and a small smile tugged at his lips when you leaned into his touch. In response, he shuffled closer to you, wrapping an arm around your waist and nuzzling into your chest. He always wondered how he'd gotten someone like you.
He felt every so often that he didn't deserve someone as good as you, but every time he asked you about it, you would always say something like "if anything, it's me that doesn't deserve you."
He loved you, he really did, even if he didn't always say it, even if other couples around you like Tori and Yuma or Kite and Quinton were more affectionate, as long as you knew he loved you, he didn't need anything else.
"Is my onion boy awake?" You yawned. He immediately frowned. Your eyes opened slowly, allowing soft rays of light to dance over your eyes. You saw Shark resting on his side, his arm propping up the side of his head as his other hand drew away from his face.
"What did you say?" He asked, lowering his eyebrows over his eyes that stared right into your own.
"Nothing, dear." You said quietly, your voice cracking from morning tiredness. "How long do we have to cuddle before one of those boys comes in asking you for money?" Before he could answer, you already shifted on top of him, hugging your arms around his torso and burying your face in his chest.
"About five minutes, unless Alito's going shopping." Shark replied with an obvious frown on his face. You hummed, kissing along his jawline to try and cheer him up.
"That's enough," you shifted in his arms a little to look up and crane your neck to kiss his cheek. "I love you." You said softly.
You felt him tense. You told him that every single morning, even before you'd gotten married, and he was still never used to hearing it. He relaxed after a few seconds and put his hands over your back, bringing you closer to him. He took the lead and leaned down, pressing his lips to yours.
He pulled back after a moment with a low hum and gently pushed you back onto your pillow, so he was hovering over you. "Easy," you purred in a whisper. Shark leaned down and kissed you again, tilting his head to get a better angle and deepen the kiss. His tongue ghosted over your bottom lip, but instead of indulging him, you pushed him off, giggling at his moping expression.
He pushed his face back into your chest, giving you ability to tangle your fingers in his dark fuchsia hair, sending little shivers all down his back. "I love you too." Shark proclaimed, turning his head so that his ear was pressed against you, listening to your steady heartbeat. "What should we do today?"
You hummed and pressed your lips into a tight pout in thought. "Get a pet?"
"No." He shook his head, stray strands of his hair swiping against your neck.
"Take over the world?" Your voice strained when you stretched your arms over your head. Shark quickly reached up and caught your hands again, bringing them back into his hair.
"I already tried that."
"Spend the entire day like this?"
Shark thought for a moment.
"I like that idea."
Not even a minute later, Alito smashed open your bedroom door, fully dressed in his day clothes and holding open an empty leather wallet. "Mr Nash, I need some money to go shopping I promise I'll bring (y/n) home some flowers, please I need to show up with more money than Yuma."
Shark looked at you only to roll his eyes. You smiled and looked at the hopeful Alito, who was bouncing on his heels in anticipation. "There's some money on one of the kitchen counters, take that, Alito."
"Thank you!" Alito exclaimed, rushing out of the doorframe, accidentally slamming the door behind him and dashing back down the corridor.
"You're too nice to them." Shark grumbled as he rolled over to get out of your bed.
"Where are you going?" You whined, reaching out for him.
Shark swivelled on his heel and grasped your hand in his, pressing a kiss to your knuckles.
"To buy you flowers before that damned boy does."
