My Hero Academia Exchange AU

Chapter 4

Mina's POV

Celia takes me to the dining hall. IT'S SO BIG!!! And I'm so hungry too!

We sit down with Deku, his exchange partner Jimmi, and Celia's friends; Haley, Toby and Milo. We talk for a bit about school and quirks. Celia's friends are so nice! Toby plays soccer, Hayley is an artist and Milo enjoys cooking.

We sit down with our dinner; roast chicken. It's delicious!

We talk and laugh about nothing in particular, and it's a lot of fun, but then Deku asks "So who are all the heroes and villains here?"

"Oh there are quite a few in Australia," Haley started. "Did Jimmi not tell you yet?"
"Jimmi doesn't even know what's going on half the time, do you really think he'll be able to explain the hero villain situation?" taunted Toby.
"Oi, quit it dude!"

"Whatever I'll explain," Milo says. "So there are a lot of pro heroes here. The number one heroes are Lava Bruce and Water Sheila. Bruce's quirk is Lava Lamp, so he can create and shoot hot goo that looks like it's from a lava lamp, and Sheila's quirk is Salt Water, so she creates salty water and hurts villains with it after Bruce has shot them."

Wow, this place really is something, huh.

Deku is frantically writing all this down while Jimmi is clearly trying not to fanboy over the heroes.

"Wow, they sound awesome!" Deku exclaims.

"I KNOW RIGHT! THEY'RE AWESOME!"
"Yeah that's great and all Jimmi, but do you know about any of the villains?" Toby asks.

"Ummmmmm"

"You can be such a fucking idiot sometimes," Toby says. "Anyway the main villain to watch out for is called David McNamara, also known as The Swooper."
"That sounds like a name for a hero," I say.

"Oh no you don't want to get in his way," Haley says. "His quirk is Magpie, and they're the most ferocious birds in Australia."
"What about the ibis?" asks Milo.
"Oh yeah, the bin chicken is nasty too."
"But what makes The Swooper so bad?" I ask.

"Well, let me give you some Australian insight," says Toby. "In the Spring, the magpies decide that it's a good time to swoop at people's heads and try to poke their eyes out. The Swooper flies around Australia and tries to swoop them on behalf of the magpies."

"Wow," says Deku in disbelief. "That's terrifying."
"Yeah it is, so you better watch your back around here," Toby warns us.

"My question is, how did Jimmi not know about this?" I ask.

"Because he can't tell the difference between The Swooper and the Bin Chicken," explains Haley. "But the Bin Chicken isn't special. He just helps out The Swooper and eats out of the bin."
"EWW THAT'S GROSS!" I yell.

"Yeah, but he's not that dangerous," Haley reassures us.

"CAN WE JUST EAT WITHOUT THIS DISCUSSION OF IBISES??" asks Celia.

"Ugh fine. Be that way," says Toby.
"Oi, be nice," says Haley.
"Don't tell me what to do Mum!!"

We go back to the lighthearted banter we were having earlier. But the energy isn't the same after discussing the villains. They must be really dangerous. Although Jimmi had no clue what was going on, so the villains couldn't be that dangerous. Well, it doesn't matter. I'm so excited to start classes tomorrow!

Adeline's POV

I take Kyoka to the dining hall. She seems nice. She was cool with me being bi, but if she weren't, that's her own problem to deal with. She really likes rock music, like A LOT. I don't have a problem with it though. She's nice.

We sit down with my friend Ivy and her exchange partner Tsu. Ivy told me that she's really nice. And she's right; Tsu is awesome!

Jiro immediately says "So you're Ivy, right?"
"Yeah I am," Ivy responds.

"Adeline said you like rock music."

"Yeah I do, rock is awesome!"

They end up talking about rock music for the rest of dinner. I really don't know what to say.

Then Tsu asks me "So what classes do we have tomorrow?"
"Good question. So we have Form every morning, which I guess you would call homeroom, and then we have English, Maths, and Double PE as well. I can't remember what else we have," I tell her.
"What do you do in PE?"
"Well, we usually spend some time on quirks, but we also work on our fitness and endurance. It helps us develop our quirks," I explain.

"That sounds cool. Do you have Superhuman History?"
"Yeah we do."
"Cool, so do we," says Tsu.
"Awesome."

I'm not really sure what to say now. It's a bit hard to think about anything with all the noise in the room.

Meanwhile we hear Ivy try to introduce Kyoka to Nightcore.

That's where the noise is coming from.

"I still don't get it," Kyoka complains.

"It's basically speeded up versions of songs," Ivy explains for what must be the 5th time already.

"Yeah I understand that, it's just what's so great about them?"

"Well that's kinda hard to explain. I guess it's like a cover of the song but it's the original recording so it isn't completely fucked up?? I don't know, but they're just amazing."
Kyoka still looks very confused, but it's clear that she's not going to ask Ivy again to explain Nightcore. Then she asks "What kind of songs are made into Nightcore?"

"Any song you like," Ivy says.

"Any song?"

"That's right. Think of any song, someone's probably made a Nightcore version of it."

"Awesome! I'll check it out when I get back to my dorm."

So we finish dinner and Kyoka and I head back to the dorm room. After hanging out with Ivy and Tsu for a bit longer, we get ready for bed.

We get into our beds at around 9:30. Today was good, I think to myself. I met my exchange partner, who's really cool, and I met Ivy's partner too, who was nice.

"I'm probably gonna listen to some Nightcore for a while, if that's ok. I'll have my headphones in, so you won't hear it," Kyoka tells me.
"Yeah that's fine," I say. "Ivy must have really talked you into listening to some of those tracks."
"Nah, not really, I just wanna judge how good it really is."
"Oh ok. I think you'll enjoy it. Just make sure you don't stay up too late."
"Ok, goodnight Adeline."
"G'night Kyoka."

I drift off to sleep thinking about what lies ahead for the next month.
