"Woah! Go Shraddha, go!"

Raghav bounced on his foot excitedly as he watched his tenacious date struggle up the slippery and hardest wall of the rock-climbing centre. The small, gripping stones liaised to make her journey upwards difficult. This was her fifth attempt to complete the course.

Shraddha reached the summit of her climb with over-exerted limbs. She slid down the rope and flopped on the floor like a heap of noodles. Raghav supported her weight as they nimbly walked to a bench.

Shraddha believes dating took strenuous effort and it still proves to be so: getting to know the person, understanding their nature, accommodating them in your lifestyle. But, it also proves to be worthy when the relationship mutually becomes serious and you genuinely care for that person.

She's been going on dates with Raghav for the past 15 days and they've been amazing. Raghav wears his heart on his sleeve. Their conversations and dates are brimmed with endearing stories and adventurous tales. His eyes glimmer with wonder and fun when he talked about his family, especially his two younger sisters. She's bonded so well with him because of his lovable character.

But was he worth a long-term relationship?

Shraddha and Raghav basked in the thrill of rock-climbing all afternoon, rewarding themselves with a good lunch meal.

"So, rate today's date out of 10," insisted Raghav, as he digged into the their red, hot meatball spaghetti.

"Hmm...I'd give it a solid 9," Shraddha said after thoroughly chewing.

"And what constitutes for a 10 in your standards?" Raghav smirked playfully with a blot of red sauce on the corner of his mouth.

"In my standards? Maybe if we ate handmade food? Oh, and it was raining! That'd be amazing. Some aloo on the side, some roti, and a warming cup of garam chai masala. And the cold...perfect date," Shraddha chef-kissed the air with a dramatic flair, earning a heartful laugh. "What? That's the easiest way to worm into my heart."

"Shraddha, someone could sneeze a certain way like those cute, quite ones and they would earn your love."

"Hey, don't mock me...those sneezes are very cute," Shraddha said.

"Anyway, your wishes have be noted, madam. One day, you may go on a very surprising, very heartwarming, very cute date with a dashing man."

"Looking forward to it-"

ting!

ting!

"-sorry, let me check this," Shraddha checked her new messages. One from her manager and one from her director. She had clearance to go back to set tomorrow.

"What's up?" Raghav nodded towards her phone.

"Oh, uh, I just got clearance to start shooting tomorrow. My knees almost cleared up."

"That's great news. I didn't know you needed clearance for those kinda things. I'm not that well-read on the industry even if most of our mutual friends are," Raghav admitted, almost guilty.

"Hey, it's no biggie. I mean, yeah, the clearance has to do with payments and stuff. I'm really excited to go back. I missed Varun and everyone," Shraddha smiled sweetly.

"Oh, I almost forgot, you're leads with Varun. How's he like anyway?" Raghav asked, curious about one of the most famous Indian actors of the 21st century.

"He's amazing! Always has been. One of my most favourite people in the world...if there had to be someone I'd trust with my life, it'd be Varun," Shraddha has the biggest smile on her face. She's always so happy and eager to compliment her best friend.

"Wow. He must be very important to you, huh? You speak of him so highly," Raghav's fork tinged as he scraped the edges on the plate. "Is this your first time working with him?" He looked up. Shraddha was shook her head, displaying a dazzling smile and mouthed 'second'."Did you guys ever date?"

"What? No...I mean, what? No," Shraddha tilted her head back, almost in revulse. Varun was a childhood friend, a forever friend. She can't just date someone who she had so much history with.

"You know what they say? A strong denial is confirmation," he looked on in a knowing way.

"Varun and I have been friends since we were practically babies. I mean, we had crushes on each other when we were younger." She scrunched her nose and then sighed."But that's puppy love. Nothing serious. We never dated."

"Well, it's nice to know I don't have to climb up to his league. His league is like...up there," Raghav stretched his hand above his head to exaggerate.

Shraddha's face dimmed.

Raghav had a mocking smile.

"Nah, Varun's not like that. You'd like him."

"Obviously. You deserve the best of everything, malady. So, I'm sure he's a great guy," he almost sounded sarcastic, a hint of vehemence made Shraddha flinch. But just a bit.

"Hmm...how about you come meet him one of these days? In between shoots or afterwards?" her pitch was lowered and her words softer.

"Yeah, sure. I'd love too."

The atmosphere darkened.

Shraddha's stomach flopped and her heart dipped. She understood now. He was jealous. But it was Varun - her best friend. He didn't need to be jealous. More so, she hated how uncomfortable she felt.

They finished their lunch in silence, giving Shraddha time to think. But she felt shameful and scared, as if her questions would leak out of her mind and make themselves exposed to Raghav.

Is he worth it?
