Well, it doesn't seem like they're having a study session right now. They all sat around Tsukishima's table but they were staring at Hinata, extremely worried.
"I don't think he's okay," Kageyama said, flipping through the pages of his book, not looking at the content he was flipping. Just mindlessly flipping through.
"You're stating the obvious, dimwit." Tsukishima rolled his eyes, "He has been sitting there, staring into space, you think?"
Yamaguchi sighed as the other two bickered, idiots.
It is worrisome for someone to sit and stare at nothing for an extended amount of time, not responding to anything as well. He wonders, what had happened to Hinata that he turned out like this. Tsukishima seems to know more about something but he won't ask, for now.
Everything quieted down when Hinata suddenly groaned, placing his head on the table. Then he looks up and clutches his head, pulling his book near him. "Where were we again?"
"We've stopped studying for quite a while now." Yamaguchi pressed his lips into a thin line. "You were zoning out."
"I... was?" Hinata grimaces, pressing his face into his palms. "Yes. You were at it for a while." Kageyama had completely shut his book, pushing it to the middle of the table. Hinata mentally slapped himself. A while? How long was 'a while?'
"About 20 minutes." Tsukishima continued as if he knew what was Hinata thinking. "I'll go get some medicine for you."
"Thanks," Hinata mumbled. He had wasted their time. They were supposed to study, not make them worry over nothing.
"Don't beat yourself up about it Hinata. You're unwell, it's fine if you rest." Yamaguchi assures him. 20 minutes of zoning out and you're telling me to rest? Hinata thinks to himself.
"Yes." Kageyama and Yamaguchi answered in unison. Are they mind readers?
Speaking about resting. He is tired though, not sure if mentally or physically but he's tired. This whole day had been draining his energy and he felt like crashing. He tries to avoid showing his problems but he guesses he's doing a bad job since his seniors probably saw him had an anxiety attack and now his friends are witnessing him mentally unavailable.
A sigh escapes his lips, resting his head on the table again. It's gotten bad, huh? Wonder if anytime sooner he'll break and-
"Here." Tsukishima shakes him gently. He sat up and looked at the tablets in front of him then glanced up at his friends. Why are they so worried about him? If they knew what he did to his sister, would they even be friends with him?
"-inata. Hinata." Tsukishima shook him a bit harder than before. He blinked and sighed. "Sorry."
He took the pills and almost choked at the bitter taste, earning a few small laughs from the others. Then the air grew thick again. Oh boy, this isn't good.
"Hinata. Do you think you're okay now?" Yamaguchi asks, setting aside their books. Oh good, they aren't going to study now. It's going to be a therapy session.
Hinata avoids answering the question, keeping silent but it seems that keeping silent isn't going to help him either. His friends are looking at each other as if they have telepathy or some sort.
"We don't know the whole story of your problem but you know you can trust us, right? We're here for you." Kageyama spoke up, surprising Hinata that the setter was concerned. Hinata doesn't reply but he gives a slight nod.
What is more surprising is that Tsukishima didn't tell both of them about what had happened.
What had Tsukishima told them? He glanced over to the blond.
Tsukishima kept quiet. Only stares back at the ginger with his arms crossed but his face shows an emotion that Hinata couldn't read.
Can he trust them? Tsukishima had been keeping quiet about it, but...
No.
No, he can't. He can't tell them. He can't trust them.
"I... don't want to talk about it now." He lies, "Soon maybe?" He earns hums from Kageyama and Yamaguchi but a disapproving look from Tsukishima. He looks away from the blond.
Just in time, Kageyama's phone rings. They've been at Tsukishima's house for hours, so it's time to go home. While the others had started packing up their belongings, Hinata sat there unmoving.
Dread churned in his stomach. He shouldn't be afraid to go home but why is he? He's not in danger. There's no one bothering him, he's alone.
Alone.
Oh.
"We'll get going now. See you guys tomorrow." Yamaguchi pushed Kageyama out of Tsukishima's room, leaving them both alone.
Hinata nodded, watching both of his friends leave. Then, he slowly starts to pack his books as well.
"Hinata." Tsukishima finally spoke, startling him but then he kept quiet, his mouth opening and closing in hesitation. "Did you replace your gauze?"
Oh, he had forgotten about it. The quietness seems to answer the question, so Tsukishima sighs.
"You idiot. You could get an infection." Tsukishima stands up and frowns disapprovingly. "Wait here. I'll get my med kit."
"Okay..."
Tsukishima came back and kneeled beside him, opening the old gauze. "You shouldn't lie to them." He mumbled, applying cream onto the scars. "They're worried for you."
"I know but I don't trust them or the others." Hinata stares blankly at his scars, watching how the blond gently rubs the cream on his arm. "What would they think of me when they know, this?"
Tsukishima halts, taking a glance at Hinata before continuing what he's doing. He can't help but feel a bit annoyed, "What about me?"
"Huh?"
"Me. I know everything that happened, you told me as well. Do you not trust me for knowing?"
"Tsukishima..."
"You let me see the weak side of you even though you didn't want to but you did. Do you think that I would've thought less about you?" Tsukishima stops and stares at Hinata.
"..."
Tsukishima sighed and continued with whatever he was doing, embarrassed by the sudden outburst. How awkward. He doesn't know why he's angry, or maybe he's just disappointed that Hinata doesn't trust him or the others.
Hinata isn't wrong in a way. Some people find it hard to keep secrets, he has a right not to trust them. But people care for him, he cares. Hinata should know that-
"We care for you, Hinata." Not what he was planning to say but it works. Hoping that will assure him. "There. I'm going to wrap it up now, don't forget to replace-"
Yamaguchi and Kageyama burst into his room, "Tsukki! Kageyama left his book here so we thought-"
They froze near the door frame.
Fuck.
