When the transport surfaces in the lake near the Naboo palace, Zara feels a sense of relief. Jar Jar had been next to no help and she feels her anxiety peaking as their timer continues to tick down.
"Mmm, dissen lovely," Jar Jar says.
Obi-Wan powers down the engine and Qui-Gob stands first.
He peers around, taking in the scale of the droid's invasion. They sneak to the palace with relatively little interference. They had to hide from some droid patrols, but for the most part there were no issues.
From one of the sheltered corridors, the four of them watch as the Queen is lead with her immediate staff by a droid. They creep along the hallway, waiting for an opportune moment to strike. Their hallway turns and creates an overpass that the group is heading straight for. The three of them leap from it, igniting their lightsabers as soon as they hit the ground. They methodically slice through the droids, Zara being sure to keep Jar Jar from dying. Soon, the entire squad of droids are laying destroyed.
"We should leave the street, Your Highness," Qui-Gon says calmly, motioning to the side. Zara, the only one who has met Queen Amidala as a representative to Safferen, looks between her and one of her handmaids. She catches the girl's eye and recognises her as Padmé. Her eyes beg for her to keep quiet and she nods discreetly as the Captain gathers the weapons left by the destroyed droids.
The decoy is a tactical move used frequently by the Queen of Naboo. The distracting dresses and face of makeup makes it easy to do. As such a peaceful planet, they hardly have use for such a tactic often, but at least it will probably keep Padmé safe.
"Princess Zara," the fake-Queen says, bowing her head respectfully.
"Your Highness. We're the ambassadors for the Supreme Chancellor," she explains with a short bow.
"Your negotiations seemed to have failed, Ambassador," Governor Sio Bibble criticises.
"The negotiations you're speaking of never happened," she replies sternly. "It is of paramount importance that we contact the Republic and Chancellor Valorum as soon as possible."
Captain Panaka pushes his way forward, blaster in his hand. "They've knocked out all our communications," he informs her.
"Do you have transports?" Qui-Gon asks.
"In the main hangar. This way," he nods, beginning to lead them there.
"I appreciate your presence, Princess," the decoy Queen says. "Your planet's friendship with Naboo allows you precious insight into how we work. It will be most helpful."
"It's my duty, Your Highness. Initially I was here because of my knowledge of diplomacy, but it helps that I can use a lightsaber well," she jokes. It earns a smile from the usually-stoic Queen and some of her handmaids.
When they arrive at the doors of the hangar, Qui-Gon and Captain Panaka peer through. Zara stands between Padmé and the Queen, the other handmaids not too far behind. The young girls seem to both gravitate towards her, both because of her joking manner that lightens the mood and because they know she can do her job as both diplomat and fighter.
"There are too many of them," Panaka declares.
"That won't be a problem, especially with three Jedi," Qui-Gon assures confidently. "Your Highness, under the circumstances, I suggest you come to Coruscant with us."
