The night was quiet and freezing cold; much like I expected. Small stars scattered across the dark sky like a blanket. I should have been sleeping but I stood up all night studying about the Bermuda triangle. That was until I heard Nylah's voice a distant away.

At first, I thought it was my imagination but I realised that the voice sounded sluggish and drawling almost like she was drunk.

That was when it hit me.

I let a low curse as I rush out of my cabin. My heart rate slowed down when I saw Nylah leaning on the hydraulic pins. Her head was faced towards the sky whiles murmuring some words I didn't recognized. I thought about leaving her alone but the possibility of throwing herself off board was something I was not willing to risk.

With a heavy breaths, I took a seat on the wet floor opposite her. "Got something you need to get out off your chest?" I inquired.
She glanced at me with a bored expression. She then held up the empty vodka bottle and before I could register what she was doing, she threw the bottle into the ocean.

"Why would you do that!" I yelled, "that's littering."

"I am sharing." She retorts. Nylah then mutters some Arabic words towards me. And no doubt was it an insult.

There was pregnant silence until I broke it. "You said you never met your father."
I prompted in an effort to make her get out what was bothering her.

She stayed silent for a second before she spoke, "I am a curse."

I frowned at her assumption but let her continue, "My papa died when I was born. They said I was a curse that was why I have cat eyes."

I registered what she had said and I couldn't help but feel pity for her. She had it worse by trying to survive in the tough village in Arab yet alone being a 'curse' to society.

But the thing that was nagging me at the back of my head was the fact she reminded me of someone I couldn't put my finger on.
The tension in the cold atmosphere made uncomfortable so I decided to suggest something. "Can you..." I shrugged. "Teach me how to steal stuff. You know just for fun."

Nylah looked at me. Her eyes not moving one bit and for a moment I thought she didn't hear me until she bursted out laughing.

I deadpan, "it's not really funny."

She died down her laughter and said, "fine." With that said the Arabian thief got up and so did I.
I pulled out a pen from my pocket and held it in the air and said, "how about you steal this first. Then you teach me?" I suggested.

"Okay." She said before I placed the ballpoint pen back in my pocket.

"Come." She demanded. Reluctantly I did before she harshly bumped me with her shoulder.
I wasn't ready for the jabbing pain she caused to my shoulders.
That girl had sharp shoulders.

Before I knew it she held the pen in the air with a smirk I had never seen her wear before.

"That was..." I said in awestruck. "Wow."

All of a sudden, the tugboat was quiet. I frowned and turned to face Nylah who was looking at the clouds; they were large dark clouds brewing the sky and it was then I noticed how large the waves were getting.

Out of the blue, a large lighting bolt striked the ocean surface just a few metres from the boat.

Suddenly, Richards came out from the wheelhouse yelling over the now loud and rising waves, "you better get in. We are here."

Without a second to spare, we quickly climbed the bridge to the wheel house and within seconds, rain started pouring heavily. Richards tried to control the wheel but the boat trembled with the waves.

Something drew to me when I realised I left the book in the cabin.
"I gotta go out there and pick the book!" I yelled to Richards.

I ignored the complaints from Richards and head out from the wheelhouse steadying myself from the rain pouring down on the deck. I rushed towards the my cabin and stuffed the book and some papers into my backpack. I grabbed the my other essentials and stuff them into the bag.

I went into Nylah's cabin and grabbed her backpack before I arrived at the wheelhouse.

"That was foolish, Bryan." Richards scolded me when I arrived. My breathing was harsh and heavy. I wore my backpack and so did Nylah including Richards who was trying hard to steady the boat.

Before I could say anything, the boat rocketed to the other side of the hull but Richards managed to pull the boat in balance.

"Oh. My. God." We muttered in unison.

Before us was a large whirlpool the size of a large football field. lighting continuously struck the center of the whirlpool and it was then I realised, there was no going back.

Within a minute, Richards lost balance of the tugboat and it came crashing down into the ocean along with us and before we knew it we were underwater and as if something was pulling as towards the whirlpool, my vision turned black.
