I don't think I've left my bed that much since I came back home, and that was two days ago. The most active thing I've done was to brush my teeth. I've never felt so humiliated. Why would he spare me? I mean, I broke into his apartment, I could have found something that would have been detrimental to him, and yet he spared me? "This is your opportunity to leave, I wouldn't show your face here again."
I can't shake the thoughts from my head, they're borderline debilitating. I could have shot him, and ended his reign of terror right there. Avenged my father. Maybe I could have at least questioned him. Useless, I'm so useless.
I looked out my bedroom window, seeing the night sky, the moon looked exceptionally beautiful tonight. My stomach rumbled. Well, I suppose I should get some food, I haven't eaten in two days. I stood up from my bed, my feet hitting the cold wood floor. I began to walk to my kitchen.
I opened the pantry and grabbed a cup of instant ramen, filling it with water and putting it in the microwave. I set the timer for 4 minutes and then sat down on my couch, waiting.
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
As soon as I heard the knocking I began shaking with unease, knocking was seemingly an irrational fear I developed years ago. A knock at my door? It's 10 pm! Could it be my landlord? It would make sense, I'm overdue on rent. I don't have any money but I can't get evicted. Maybe I could try to seduce him? Desperate times call for desperate measures. I unbuttoned my shirt a little bit, to show some cleavage and collar-bone. I ran my fingers through my hair and chuckled a little. Have I really fallen this far?
"Coming!" I shouted. I walked casually to the door and opened it. I was met with another pair of eyes, big brown eyes. Chrollo Lucilfer.
He gazed at me for a little bit, looking me up and down. How did he find me? More importantly, did he come to kill me? I was frozen with fear once again.
"May I come in?" He asked. I inhaled deeply, if I calm down, this could be my opportunity to kill him. I exhaled. "Sure," I said, "take a seat." He smiled politely and walked into my apartment, sitting down on my tattered loveseat. I followed suit and took a seat on my couch in front of him.
We silently stared at each other for a moment, I decided to break the silence. "How did you find me?" He looked amused by my question. "I placed a tracking device on you." He replied. That's right, he must've done that when he patted me on the back. "Why are you h-?" The microwave went off and interrupted my question. I jumped a little and fell silent. "Are you going to get that?" Chrollo chuckled.
"Umm, yeah," I responded. I stood up from my couch and opened my microwave, grabbing my ramen noodles, and getting silverware from my drawer. I sat back down, awkwardly eating the noodles as I stared at Chrollo intensely. "Why are you here?" I asked.
"For my box, that you stole." The box! How could I forget about the box?! Was I really too busy wallowing in self-pity to remember something so important? Forget that, this is my chance! I'll go grab the box and get my gun too! "Can you return it to me, please?" Chrollo continued.
"Sure." I said, standing up and walking to my bedroom. I hurried over to my trench-coat, and sure enough, on the back of the trench-coat was a minuscule tracking device. Just dandy. I reached into my coat pockets, grabbing the black box and my pistol. I placed the pistol in the back of my pants and slowly walked back to the couch.
I sat back down and placed the box on the coffee table in front of me. Chrollo looked at me and smiled, and reached out for the box, as I reached for the gun in my pants. "Thank you." He said. I pulled out the gun and aimed it at Chrollo, turning off the safety. He looked up at me in shock, but there was no fear on his face.
"Open it, open the box." I demanded. Chrollo looked at me with apprehension in his eyes, "I assure you, there's nothing in this box that will interest you-" He began. I cocked the gun and pointed it at him again. "Open it!" I yelled. He looked down and sighed taking the lid off of the box. "If you insist." He whispered.
When he took the lid off of the box, I was speechless. I expected a murder weapon, drugs, cash; anything but what was in there. In the box, were pictures. Older pictures of who seemed to be Chrollo and friends, maybe some family.
"I told you it was nothing that would interest you." He crooned. "W-what is this?" I asked dumbly. Chrollo furrowed his brow at me, then looked down at the pictures and his expression softened. "My friends." He said softly.
FRIENDS? How dare he! How dare he kill so many people's friends and family and think he deserves to have any? Once again, I was frozen. I could shoot him right now! I could kill him right now! I started to reach for the trigger, my hand shaking. Chrollo stood up abruptly and yanked the gun from my hands. This is it, this is the end.
He put the gun down beside him and sat back down. He breathed deeply. "Last time I saw you, your face was completely covered. When I came here I was expecting someone hideous, and I was pleasantly surprised. Who are you?" Chrollo questioned. I guess I don't have a choice now, he could shoot me at any second. "K-Kumi. Kumi Sanosuke." I spit out.
"Kumi Sanosuke, huh? What a lovely name. What do you want from me, Kumi Sanosuke?" He continued to question. "I-I um." I tried to answer his question, but it seemed that the built-up anger and anxiety were preventing me from giving a comprehensible answer.
"That's fine, you don't have to answer right now. I have an offer for you." The brown-eyed man said. An offer? "I was impressed by your skills at tracking me, I don't think anyone has successfully done that before. Not to mention, you seem to have a knack for infiltration. So, here's my offer, I noticed the eviction notice on your door. Short on cash? I have someone I need put out of business, and your skills could be of great use to me. If you help me, I'll compensate you greatly, interested?" He asked.
This is it, this could be the perfect chance to avenge my father! I get close to Chrollo, and I use his own trust against him! Perfect! I breathed deeply to calm myself.
"Yes, I'm interested." I replied. "Outstanding, I need a number to contact you." He said, handing me his phone, smiling. As I pressed my digits into his phone he continued to speak. "If you're not busy tomorrow night, let's talk business. I'll pick you up at 11 pm. Sound good?" I handed him back his phone and responded. "Sounds great."
He smiled and began to walk out the door, "well I'll see you later then, goodnight. Oh and, you should really button up your shirt." I quickly looked up and felt heat spread across my cheeks. He laughed and walked out of the door, closing it behind him.
This is it Chrollo Lucilfer, I'm going to beat you this time. I'll avenge my father and put an end to your reign.
