Third person's pov
Mark put the files in his desk with a thud, frustrated. He kept thinking of Clara when he should have been working. He had almost called her dozens of times, but he didn't know how she would take it.
He was afraid that maybe she wouldn't remember him. He had never had it so badly for a girl. The women he had date had always been the ones to chase after him.
But with Clara it was different. There was something about her that appealed to him. He felt like someone else would snatch her from him if he didn't go after her.
After a lot of deliberation, he decided to call her.
"Hi Clara, it's Mark."
"Hi Mark."
"I was wondering if you could have dinner with me tonight. "
"L-like a date?"she asked.
"Yeah but only if you are not busy,"
"Okay sure"
"Really? I mean I'll pick you up at 7,bye"
Mark quickly left his office to go prepare for his date with Clara. It was already four and he had less than three hours to get ready.
Third person's pov
Clara couldn't believe it believe it, Mark had asked her out. The Mark who could get any girl he wanted. She was beyond happy.
All she had ever known of a man's touch was that it brought pain, and her father had never failed to show her that.
But it was different with Mark. Whenever he was around she felt safe and protected. Finally, the nightmares that haunted her sleep were replaced by dreams of Mark.
She dreamed of how life would be by his side. For the first time she took interest in a person of the opposite sex and she hoped it wasn't just a dream.
"Guess what Nadia? I have a date,"she said as she squealed happily
"And with who might I ask?"
"Mark, can you imagine?"
"oh I see you captured the attention of Kenya's most eligible bachelor."Nadia teased.
"Stop and just help me get ready. He is coming to pick me up at 7."
"okay okay Cinderella,"she said giggling.
After two hours of trying on different dresses, we finally decided on one.
The dress was beautiful. Not my usual taste, but great. It hung a bit lower showing a little cleavage. It clung to my waist and floated to my knees. It was a bit shiny but I didn't mind since it accentuated my curves perfectly.
I couldn't wait for the date, but most importantly I couldn't believe that I was going on a date with the Mark Maasai.
I quickly got ready since I didn't want to make him wait. I put on my dress and some matching heels. I held my hair back nicely, then Nadia helped me put on some make up.
I couldn't even recognize the person in front of the mirror. I wondered what Mark would think.
There was a knock on the door and Nadia quickly went to get it
"Hi Mark. Come in".Nadia said.
"Thank you".
"Clara is upstairs getting ready. She'll be down soon".
I took a deep breath and started walking down the stairs. I went down slowly so that I don't trip on my dress.
I saw his eyes scan my body from head to toes making me blush. I quickly shifted my gaze to the floor to hide it.
"Finally Cinderella is here". Nadia joked.
"You look ravishing". Mark said lifting my chin with his fingers so that I look him in the eye.
My heart begins to race under his gaze.
"You look good too,"I whisper.
He leans in to put a kiss on my cheek as I feel my heart skip a beat.
"We should leave now or we will be late," Mark says.
I nod my head quietly not trusting my voice.
He takes my hand and leads me to his car. I hear Nadia mouth a quick 'have fun' before I'm fully out the door.
Mark opens the door for me and I quickly thank him. He quickly gets into the driver's seat and we're off to his place.
"What music do you like?" Mark asks breaking the silence.
"Bongo music?"I answer shyly. (Bongo is a type of music from East Africa).
"Huge fan of Diamond platinum?"he asks.
"Yeah I think he's a great musician".
"Well, I like hip-hop and a little bit of gengetone".
I giggle at his admission. He doesn't seem like someone who would listen to genge tone. (Kenyan ghetto music is called genge tone)
"What?"he asks.
"You don't look like someone who would listen to genge tone."
"OK you got me. I don't listen to music."
"How? I mean why?"
"Well I spend most of my time working so..... " he says.
"oh I mutter under my breath.
"We are here. "Mark says.
He opens the door for me and I mutter a quick thank you before going out. He takes my hand and leads me towards his hou...I mean mansion.
He opens the door for me and I'm immediately left speechless. His mansion is beautiful. It is beautifuly decorated with Rose petals.
I must have been staring for long because the next thing I heard was, "Are you coming in OR not?"
I quickly came back to reality and followed him inside. He lead me to the dinning table which was filled with all kinds of food.
"Did you make this?" I asked.
"Yeah. Anything for you". He says pulling out a seat for me.
We talked through our dinner. Constantly asking each other questions.
Time flew by so fast and soon it was eleven pm.Mark insisted that I stay for the night so I did.
He gave me his shirt and basketball shorts to put on to bed after showing me to my room. I quickly told him goodnight and went to my room.
