Evelyn had just gone into the bathroom when Julian's phone rang again. It was Mr Chima, inviting him to a gala his wife had prepared to celebrate his birthday. Julian laughed and promised to attend. He hung up with another promise to bring Evelyn along, at Chima's request. Of course he would bring her.
He shook his head and placed the phone back on the desk. He was still hard as rock and the sight of his desk did nothing to help his situation. In fact, he would never look at this desk the same way again. He would make sure he removed this desk when he had found a suitable candidate to head the company.
Julian pulled on his shirt, he had agreed earlier on to meet with his brother this evening. And come to think of it, he would be away from the office and won't be back till Saturday. Just in time for the gala. He wished he could take Evelyn with him to Zendco.
He sat at the edge of his desk, waiting for Evelyn to emerge from the bathroom. She emerged some minutes later, looking freshened up but her lips were still a little bit swollen and pink. Yes, his handwork.
She was holding a wet face towel which she used to wipe his face clean.
"Evelyn, you know I will be going to London tomorrow and will not be back until Saturday." He said, taking her hands in his. Her small hands fit perfectly in his, like there were made to be there.
"Yea, I'm your personal assistant. Of course I know." She said without humour. "I literally booked your flight.
"God Evelyn, I wish I could bring you with me. I don't really want to be away from you." He released her hands and held her shoulders instead.
"Same here. But it's not like you are going away forever." She rolled her eyes.
"Yea, well. I'll call you. When I find the time." He promised. He would, at least her sweet voice will reduce the ache he will be filling from her absence.
"Well, I better get back to work. We have been in here for a pretty long time." She said, pulling away.
Julian sat with his brother in the living room. A pregnant Vivien walked in with some juice.
"Hey brother-in-law," she said, bending to give Julian a hug, her big tummy in the way.
"Sis, looking radiant as always." He said, returning the hug and dropping a kiss on her cheek.
"Really?" she pointed at Damien. "Someone said I look like a whale."
Julian was offended on her behalf. 'Why would you call her a whale?" he asked.
Damien just raised his hands in surrender. "I didn't really call he a whale. She stood in front of the mirror and said she had gained excess weight and that she could be mistaken for a whale. She was getting so emotional about it. The only thing I said was "Babe, I've never seen a whale look this beautiful". That was my crime."
"You could have just said I should stop calling myself a whale. You could have told me to keep quiet and call me sexy or beautiful. Not consent to it." She said, throwing a pillow at her husband.
Damien looked at Julian for help, but he just held unto his sister-in-law, amused at their couple's banter. "You had just one job, bro."
"You are taking her side!" They all laughed and Vivien excused herself.
"So, how's work?" his brother asked.
Julian just shrugged. "Fine. Some of the people Dad does business with are a pain in the ass, but I will survive."
