Walking into the Slytherin common room, I went straight into the sixth year's boys' dormitory and found Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle arguing in their room.
"—be a girl!" Goyle whined.
"You're the one that wanted to help," I said from the door. "Now you help the way Draco and I need you to."
Walking over to the two little flasks on their bedside table, I placed the two hairs I had nicked from two third years in the fifth-floor bathroom. Reluctantly, Crabbe and Goyle took their flasks and drank the rank potion. Within seconds, they turned into the two small girls.
"Awe, you're so cute," I cooed at Crabbe who wore a sulky and resentful face.
"Oh shut it," the little girl said with a deep voice.
I bit my lip trying not to laugh, but it didn't quite work and a bubble of laughter fell out of my mouth. The two girls narrowed their eyes at me and Draco only rolled his with a ghost of a smile.
"Let's get going," Draco said finally. "We've got an hour and a half until the Polyjuice wears off again."
Draco and I walked with Crabbe and Goyle, disgusted as the two girls, through the Slytherin common room and up the steps towards the main floor. Since today was the day of the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor Quidditch game, the castle was nearly empty. Only a few stranglers wandered in the corridors as they made their way to the Quidditch Pitch.
As we hurried down the empty corridor, I placed my hand out and stopped the three from walking any further. Harry Potter made his way down the corridor, looking out towards the grounds.
At the squeak of my shoes, Harry snapped his head towards us and furrowed his brows at the four of us. The sight of us was odd on its own as Draco and I were always alone together and I never really kept company of any other girls besides Pansy, who I recently haven't been spending time with. I let out a short, humourless laugh at his perplexed look and continued walking, my arm looped with Draco's and the female Crabbe and Goyle following us.
"Where're you going?" Harry demanded.
"Yeah, I'm really going to tell you, because it's your business, Potter," sneered Draco. "You'd better hurry up, they'll be waiting for 'the Chosen Captain' — 'the Boy Who Scored' — whatever they call you these days."
I sniggered at Draco's witty response as Crabbe let out an unwilling giggle. Harry looked past me and towards him, his giggling stopped.
"Whatever, let's go," I rolled my eyes and pushed past Harry.
"Adelaide, where are you going?" Harry called after us.
"You've got a game to get to, Potter. Try not to fall off your broom," I said over my shoulder and turned the corner with my friends.
Draco and I made our way up the steps toward the seventh floor corridor. Crabbe and Goyle stayed on either side of the steps that lead up to the corridor as Draco and I went to the Room of Hidden Things.
"Where did you say the cage of birds were?" Draco asked me.
"Over by the brooms," I said absentmindedly as I pulled the blue blanket off of the large cabinet.
Looking over, Draco came over with a white bird on in his hands. The small thing, barely bigger than an apple, tweeted softly in his hands. I really hoped this worked for I didn't want to cause harm to more helpless animal.
"Ready?" Draco asked me.
"As ready as I can be," I answered and pulled out my wand.
Earlier this week, I had found a booklet of transportation spells and metaphorical sewing charms that could help expedite the mending process; pulling out my small piece of parchment, I waved my wand and enchanted the cabinet, as I'd done all the times before, with different incantations.
