You can't ruin my happiness

Once we got in the class, it was already full and the only desks left were two in the front. I hated sitting in the front, especially in classes I didn't like where I didn't want to pay any attention, but I had no choice. Emily took a seat next to me and we had a couple of minutes left before the class started.

"Well, what happened last....?" I wanted to ask her about last night because I knew that's what she was waiting for, but before I could even finish my sentence, she turned to me and started talking about how amazing her parents are, something that I already knew, and that even though they were naturally mad at her, they didn't even yell but they just tried to convince her that getting drunk is the most stupid thing. After they made her promise not to drink that much again, a promise she would of course not keep, especially if we eventually managed to go together on vocation, they forgave her.

It wasn't really the most interesting story and I didn't really care much, although I was trying to show interest while Emily was talking by saying 'Wow' and 'Really?' and other things that would show her I was paying attention, because I knew she really hated her if someone didn't listen to what she was saying. But still her story was far more interesting than the structure of atoms and the amount of protons copper has. Our chemistry teacher was an old witch, literally, she wad white long hair and almost orange eyes, she was freaking scary!

"Ms.Connor? Could you please pay at least some attention to my class?  I just asked you something, answer please if I'm not bothering you that much?"

"Well, I would, but you actually are bothering me that much..." I said under my breath, not really caring if she heard me or not. I would prefer not to go to the principal right now, so I say loudly

"I am truly sorry Ms.Smith, I didn't hear the question. Could you please repeat it?" I force a smile and look her straight in the eyes, trying not to show my hatred towards her. She seems to believe I am sorry and asks me again. Thank god I knew the answer or I would end up having to call my parents to come talk to the principal.

The bell finally rang and our second period was over. We headed to the cafeteria were we would meet Violet, Kyle and some other guys. We were first to get there so we took our lunch and sat on the table we sat on every day.

"So guys, I asked my mum yesterday about our holidays, and she totally agreed! So where did we decide we're going?" Violet said enthusiastically, and I felt a litlle jealous of how easy it was for her to get her parents' permission. I never really felt my dad was strict, because he litetally never was, but being in this situation makes me wanna reconsider my conclusion about my dad.

"We could go to an island. Got any good ideas?" Luke, one of my other friends suggested.

"I always wanted to go to Mustique Island" Emily said and her eyes immediately got bright and a huge smile appeared on her face

"Well then, pay for my ticket as well because I definitely can't afford going there" Kyle seemed to know about this place, because actually it was the first time I ever heard about it. But if he said it was expensive, then I'd better go anywhere else, I have earned money from the part time jobs I've been doing all year long, but it's not that much and I wouldn't like to rely on my parents, especially when I know that they need the money they earn. We aren't poor but neither are we rich. Although my mum is a successful writer, she only earns money when she publishes a book, and her only income during the periods she is writing the book comes from her part time job as a singer in a fancy reastaurant. My dad's an english teacher and he doesn't earn that much either. So I better pay my vocation with my own money. It would make me feel more independant as well.

«What about we go to Cuba? My dad has a friend there and he owns a hotel, maybe he could offer us rooms in a better price and that would also mean that our parents know we are safe, being with someone who knows the country already" I suggested, with the hope that if my dad heard about that, he would agree to let me go because he could know I was with Jose, dad's friend.

They all looked at me and laughed a little bit at first.

"Why not? Think about it, it's not that far from Florida and as far as I know Cuba isn't such an expensive country either."

After a moment of silence, Kyle finally spoke.

"Well, I guess it's not a bad idea, since you said there is this friend of your dad's there, he could also show us a bit around. It would actually be fun. I'm in"

"I'm in too! I mean, anywhere with you guys!" Violet said with enthusiasm.

"Wow, why so emotional Vi?" Emily looked at her weirdly.

"Just happy for finally going somewhere on my own, so, yeah, I feel... free, you know" Violet said trying to find the words that would express how she feels.

"As if your parents were very strict on you till now and your freedom was taken away" Emily said ironically stating the obvious.

"Oh, don't ruin my happiness!" Violet said trying to look annoyed but was still smiling. Obviously nothing could ruin her happiness.

"Okay then, in order to not ruin your happiness I'm in too, I know how you can't live without me" Emily said laughing and Violet rolled her eyes.

"Count us in too" Luke and Mia said.

"Cuba it is then!" I was really happy for going, even though I didn't even knew if my dad would let me yet. But I had this feeling...
