If only I had guessed what this showstopper of a game was. Maybe then I would've seen the consequences and ran in the opposite direction. But no, I was blinded by the chance of being popular, or being accepted. Everything was sparkling and glittery and beautiful.
Until it all disappeared.
It's spin the bottle. The game, that is.
And now I am sitting in a circle of teenagers, most of them drunk and not with it at all, while my sweater or should I say cropped sweater is drenched. Leela sits beside me and her red head friend Alexis sits next to her, cuddled up beside a guy who can't keep his hands off of her. There is a mix of boys and girls in the circle, all jocks or tough guys and pretty girls. I feel awfully out of place. Why did I even get myself into this mess?
I look around, the room lit dark with only phone lights guiding our glances, there is no sign of Ethan, or Ryder. But I didn't expect Ryder to show up, maybe only in the early hours of the morning when all the weird ones have either left or passed out.
One of the guys in the group spins the bottle. All of us watch it go around and around and around until it comes to a slow stop. Our eyes all in unison look up to who it is pointing at. Alexis.
"Truth, dare, kiss, bite, or something else?" The guy asks.
"Truth." She replies.
"Alexis, on a scale of 1 – 10 how hot do you think your boyfriend is?" The guy asks her.
Alexis takes a look at the guy to her left who hasn't kept his hands off of her. She pouts her face as she looks at him. He doesn't seem to be bothered or worried at all.
Alexis turns back to the guy asking the question. "A seven."
A chorus of 'oooh's leaves peoples lips, and her boyfriend seems offended. He is quite hot, if I must say, and must've thought he'd score higher than that. He instantly takes his hands off of her and leans towards the guy on his opposite side. Alexis isn't bothered. They look like they're only boyfriend and girlfriend for the fun of it.
Next, the guy beside the one that just spun, takes his turn. He has blonde hair and sharp features, resembling my old friend that I don't dare think about. Because it hurts too much. Even though I keep telling myself not to think about it, somehow in this moment I do. Long and hard I think. The more I look at this guy in the circle, the more I remember.
His soft blonde hair that waved up and down as they ran down the street. His goofy smile that he always wore. His subtle jokes that always found a way to make me laugh even though no one else could. The secret handshake they had.
Everything. It all came to me within a matter of seconds.
Suddenly screams and hoots fill the air, and I am jolted from my memories. I can even feel the tug of a tear within my ears and I quickly wipe them away before anyone sees.
Then I see what everyone is looking around and making noise over. Apparently that blonde guy spun the bottle and it landed facing a pretty curly haired cheerleader wearing a tiny outfit, and she chose bite.
So over in the corner of this dimly lit room is a guy and girl biting each other for pleasure. And everyone is watching them. This is gross. And I don't feel comfortable at all. So the only thing left for me to do is get out of here. I knew I shouldn't have come here in the first place. I shouldn't have hoped that anything would change, because it won't.
I quickly get up from my sitting position and look for the door out but something latches onto my arm. It's Leela.
"Where do you think you're going?" She giggles as if it's a joke.
