She really missed her phone.

Vaania would admit that before the outbreak she was addicted to her phone, she knew it was an issue for her and she'd planned on taking care of it. That was until everything went to complete shit.

In the last year she'd changed a lot, she was sure if her past self could meet her present one she would be in shock. The truth in that thought made a shiver go down her spine.

She was concerned with this new version of herself, worried that if she continued down this path there would be nothing left of her old life. Vaania hated to say it out loud but the thought of leaving this group, this place that she'd grown to call home had crossed her mind a couple of times before.

But leaving her friends, the people she grew so close to, her family would not only crush her but them as well. Specially Daryl and Carol.

Over the past year or so the young brunette had grown much closer to the two people she saw as family. Daryl was the man who saved her life in the beginning and Carol became the motherly figure she'd lost too damn early.

She tried so hard not to replace her mother's missing presence but no matter how much she tried she couldn't just ignore the broken woman. At first it was their small talks of encouragement back at Hershel's farm, then over the eight months they spent on the road going from house to house barely surviving the harsh winter it changed into something more of a protectiveness they had on each other.

And Daryl, well he was a different story. Their journey went way back, back when she was 18. She got into a car accident with a douchbag named Merle Dixon. His reckless behavior caused her to be forced onto a hospital bed for 4 months. She didn't press charges though which his younger brother might've been glad for.

Then months later when she got back home and found her father eating her mother's enteritis, she had no other choice but to pick up the sledgehammer resting in their garage and continuously bash his scull until there was nothing left but a mush of brain matter and blood.

Daryl found her comatose like body inside her house when he was looking for his brother and made a decision to bring the girl along with him. The two would not speak to one another for weeks. He understood her situation and didn't press her for any forced conversations. She was thankful for the space he'd given her back then.

That was how she met the others, the two brothers planned on robbing the small camp they came across but a sudden change of heart prevented Daryl to proceed. That was what she liked to think, that Daryl was much different than his brother.

He was.

From that moment on her life took a turn and this time it was for the better, she wasn't alone anymore, she didn't have to fight the demons in her head to stay sane. And as comforting and humane that may be it also made her vulnerable.
