9. Nicholas Flamel was a real historical figure. Flamel was a wealthy person who lived in the 1300s and was a successful scribe. After his death in 1413, rumors spread that he was actually an alchemist who discovered the mythical stone that would turn lead into gold. He has been mentioned in several other novels and films, including The DaVinci Code (Dan Brown).
Huh, J.K. Rowling has been taking a lot of names from other things. Like, Nicholas Flamel, the Weird Sisters, and Tom Riddle. That's just sad.
