Autumn's chill had settled in, a foreboding prelude to the imminent winter's icy grasp. Inoue Hotaru found herself grappling with the bone-deep cold, her senses dulled and her mind clouded, especially daunting as she prepared for her looming English test, set to strike in the unforgiving first period. Despite her disdain for the cold, she couldn't deny the allure of the season's breathtaking beauty.
With a deck of flashcards clutched tightly in her hand, Hotaru trudged into the classroom, her thoughts consumed by the impending exam. However, her focus was abruptly shattered by the sudden eruption of a loud voice that cut through the air like a knife.
"Ehhh? That's your type, Kanade?" The incredulous gasp escaped a girl's lips, her hand instinctively flying to cover her mouth as her eyes widened in surprise.
"I like ditzy honest guys, it's cute." Kanade confessed with a serene smile, causing her friend's jaw to drop in astonishment.
"Ehhh! I really thought you go for the cool mature ones, you seem more like that," her friend stammered, clearly taken aback by Kanade's revelation.
"I guess my type is more like my boyfriend..." Kanade trailed off, her expression softening as she thought of him.
Suddenly, the girl bolted from her seat, slamming her table in disbelief. "Ehhh, boyfriend?! This is the first time hearing this!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with shock.
"You never asked," Kanade replied nonchalantly, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Hotaru, curious, decided to interject. "What's going on?" she called out, drawing the attention of both pairs of friends.
The two girls turned to look at Hotaru, who had taken a seat in front of them. "Good morning, Inoue-san," Kanade greeted Hotaru with a small smile.
"Good morning to you as well," Hotaru replied, recognizing her classmates Shibate Kanade, and Asakura Noa. Though not particularly close with either, they often shared lunch and casual conversation, primarily through their mutual friend, Ichika.
