Janus sat in front of the mirror staring at his reflection.
It was early in the morning around 7:30. He wasn't wearing his usual get up; he was dressed in a white oxford blouse and gray slacks. He looked distraught. He was holding a black hairbrush in his right hand. His long dark-brown hair was laying over his left shoulder. It was tangled and mashed the strands were wrapped together to make what looked like a nest.
You see, he was supposed to be going on a date in the imagination with his boyfriend, Patton.
The thing is, when he woke up his hair decided that couldn't happen.
He had no idea what to do. He couldn't go out with his hair looking like a family of birds living in it!
He kept staring at his mess of hair for another few minutes until there was a knock at the door.
"Janny, are you ready to go out?" Came a sweet voice through the bedroom door.
Janus was shocked out of his internal panicking.
'Oh, I forgot about Patton,' thought Janus.
He raised the brush up to his hair at his left shoulder and started brushing furiously. He winced and hissed to himself lightly everytime the brush tugged on a nott a little too hard.
Another knock on the door. Patton's voice came through.
"Janus, are you there?"
Janus didn't answer, he just growled lowly under his breath and started dragging the brush through his hair even quicker.
'He can't see me like this,' thought Janus.
On the otherside of the door, Patton started getting worried.
"Janus, are you okay?" said Patton, his voice full of concern.
Patton considered it for a moment bfore he opened the door to Janus' room.
"Janus, heelllllooooo," said Patton. He giggled lightly to himself before his cocern seeped back in.
"Janus?" said Patton now truely worried.
Janus grunted loudly from his bathroom, to get Patton's attention.
His resolve had broken, the knotts hadn't budged.
Patton hurried over tot he bathroom after hearing Janus.
He peeked into the bathroom.
He saw Janus looking at him earnestly. Patton looked him over until his eyes landed on the hairbrush and then the offending hair himself.
It took him a moment to process, when he figured it out he chuckled.
Janus did not seem amused by this. His desperate seeming gaze quickly turned into a glare at Patton's laughing.
After Patton's giggles faded out he slowly entered the bathroom and came up behind Janus.
Janus watched him until he was behind him, he then turned to look at the moral side in the mirror.
"You seemed to be in quite the predicament," said Patton with a smile on his face.
Janus huffed at him and then turned his head down to stare at his hands in his lap.
"Sorry, for ruining our date," Janus whispered.
"Oh, you didn't ruin anything!" said Patton loudly.
Janus looked up suddenly at Patton's outburst. He opened his mouth to say something but closed it after catching Patton's eyes in the mirror. He looked back down at his lap.
"You can't control what your hair does, so don't worry about," said Patton.
"Right, but its still annoying," said Janus looking back up.
"Well, yeah, thats true," said Patton.
"I should just cut it all off," said Janus glaring at his hair in the mirror.
"NO!" shouted Patton.
Janus jumped, surprised at Patton's reply.
"Really, why? Its not even that pretty," questioned Janus.
"Not that pretty! Janny your hair is beatiful," said Patton passionately.
"All you need to do is take care of it properly," said Patton.
"Hand me your hairbrush," said Patton.
Janus handed his hairbrush to Patton. Patton pulled his hair from laying on his left shoulder to his back. Patton snapped his fingers and a bottle of de-tangler appeared in his hands. He put the de-tangler on his hands and started massaging it into Janus' hair, he made sure to avoid the tangles.
After doing that for awhile he preceded to brush out his hair, tugging on the knotts and apologizing everytime Janus winced.
He repeated putting tangler in and then switching to brushing his hair out.
After awhile he put both the de-tangler and the brush down.
He started sorting Janus' hair into three parts.
"What are you doing?" asked Janus.
During brushing-out process he had gone into a peaceful state and had closed his eyes.
"I'm braiding your hair if thats alright?" replied Patton.
Janus closed his eyes again and hummed back.
Patton took that as a yes. After a minute Patton tied the braid off and stepped back to look at his work.
Janus noticed and opened his eyes. He sat up straighter.
He pulled his hair over his shoulder. He looked at it and his eyes widened. He smiled wide.
"Thank you," he said quietly.
"Your welcome," replied Patton. Patton leaned down next to Janus' head and kissed his cheek.
Afte he pulled away he said "Now, how about that date?"
Janus chuckled lightly, "Sure"
They both smiled wide.
Janus got up and Patton and him locked their hands together.
They walked out of Janus' room to go finally have their date in the imagination.
