This scene isn't a very fun one to watch. Peter messes up big time and almost costs hundreds of people their lives. But it's a very important one. One of the big reasons why he's doing this is because he thinks he has something to prove. And he's trying to do just that by taking down Vulture.
In the end, he just makes things worse, but he proves to us, the audience, his bravery and his strength. And he overall tries his best and it shows how much he really wants to help.
In a later scene, we see Peter telling Tony, "I was just trying to be like you." And even though plenty worse things happen in the MCU, I have to admit, this made me sad. Because Peter just wants to be accepted by Tony, and prove that he's more than just a friendly neighborhood spiderman. Prove that he can help and save lives. And that kills me way more than it should. That Tony couldn't see how much Peter wanted to be a part of things. And it makes me even happier when Tony finally realizes what Peter's been trying to prove the whole time.
