Sisters-in-law/Avatar The Last Airbender- Zuko X Reader

"Stairs... Lots of them!" I say breathlessly, taking deep breaths while being dangerously close to the ground.

"I thought I told you to go with your siblings!" I hear the boy in front of me complain so I get up and wrap an arm around his shoulder

"Like you could live without me, Zuzu. Now, we wouldn't be so late if you had carried me as I was telling you from the first step until the ninety-seventh." I complain back, resulting in him pushing my arm away and falling on the ground.

"ouch... Why are you so mean to me Zuzu? I thought you loved me!" I start fakely crying. I could feel him tense up and extend an arm towards me, which quickly was pulled back.

"I'm sorry... But this fight is mine! I don't want anyone else to get involved" He confesses, scratching the back of his head.

I get up and walk up to him, gently kissing beneath his scar and taking his hand in mine. I try to make my smile encouraging, hiding the fear that I was truly feeling.

"I promise, I won't get involved... Only if you truly need me though, you know, to freeze her a bit" I start pulling him towards the door that led to the fighting arena thing...

Pause

I know what you are thinking.

"What is going on?", "what am I doing here?", "Sokka is hotter than Zuko", "That last comment is so wrong, ugh!"...

But you'll probably wonder how we met... It's complicated... But I can tell you how we got together.

Rewind

Ba Sing Se
A couple of months later

"So... You like Katara, huh?" I ask Zuko who was sitting at a table in his uncle's tea shop. One day I just came across this lovely small shop and entered, and since then, I have come here every day and hang out with the prince.

"What? NO! She is exactly like my sister." He shouts at me, getting up from his chair fast, making it fall back with a loud noise. I chuckle and get up as well, shaking my hand in defense.

"Now, now. Don't get all fired up, Flame boy." I joke, doing gun fingers at him to make him laugh. He just rolls his eyes and looked away disappointed.

"You are worse than your brother," He says, not even trying to hide it! He just opened his mouth and shot that insult. I gasp dramatically, my hand flying to my chest and clenching onto my shirt.

"You... Didn't-" I murmur. Was I that similar to Sokka?! I huffed and pouted, looking down at the ground.

"I am not that similar to him" I whine. I start moving my leg and trying to act offended, which worked and Zuko cracked a smile.

"You are something else, negatively" He turns around and walks to the back of the shop. I grab the broom and wipe the floor. 'Since I already am here I should probably help them with the shop'

Soon, I started serving tea to the customers and cleaning the tables, Zuko was greeting them and Iroh was making the tea of course.

Once night falls and the shop closes, I sit down on a chair to catch my breath. Iroh places a cup of tea in front of me while handing one to Zuko, who was standing next to me. I look up at him and smile, nodding my head before taking a sip.

We sit and talk for a while. It was weird if you think that they are from the fire nation and they are chasing me and my friends around...

"I should get going, Katara will be suspicious of me and I can't lie to her..." Iroh nods and hugs me. Before he walked to the kitchen, he placed a hand on Zuko's shoulder and nodded, as if he wanted to tell him something.

I get up and stand in front of Zuko, my hands behind my back tightly holding onto each other. I get on my tiptoes and kiss his cheek

"Good night, see you tomorrow ~" I happily say before exiting the shop, the last thing seeing is him holding his cheek surprised.

Pause

So yeah, that's basically how we got together.

Fast forward

"Hello, Zuzu~" Azula says and walks a little closer, making Zuko step back but I pulled him forward. She looked like she was mad, her hair being a mess, her eyes showing the crazy side of herself... She turned and looked at me.

"Oh, and this must be my dear sister in law. Is that why you dumbed Mai? Pathetic." She laughs hysterically before Zuko attacked first. She jumps out of the way, landing on her feet.

"We aren't here to talk, Azula. Come and fight me!" And so they did. There wasn't any real winner until Zuko made her fall to the ground, a loud groan leaving her lips.

"It's over Azula," Zuko says and turns his back at her. Steam was coming out of her ears but I ignore her, turning my attention to Zuko. He was making his way towards me with a smile until a light caught his attention.

Lightning. A huge, bright lightning was following Azula's fingers which were pointing at Zuko. I start to run towards him screaming for his to get out of the way. I knew he wasn't ready, Iroh had told me. He had told me about the danger of losing his life and not having him on my side scared me.

Azula smirks when he sees Zuko get in his position and she moves her fingers in my direction. A weight left my body only to be exchanged with a different one. Everything moved fast, I cover my eyes and only open them when I hear the thunder.

Zuko was in front of me. At first, I thought he was fine but as he started falling backward, panic took over me. I catch him and lay him down. As I try to wake him up Azula is hysterically laughing as well.

Rain starts to fall and I use it to my advantage, I try to freeze her and put out the fires that she sends my way but no use, she is too strong for me.

After a long time of her chasing me around like a cat chases the mouse, I try to blood-bend and stop her from moving. The first and the second time it didn't work. It eventually did, though, so I took that opportunity and freeze her completely.

She was exhausted by that time so she couldn't fight back and the comet was gone.

I run back to Zuko and start the healing process.

Timeskip

I was sitting next to Zuko's bed, waiting for him to wake up. I was fighting off sleep for hours now and I was starting to lose the battle. Iroh had brought me tea while Sokka brought me something to eat but I didn't touch either.

I look once more at Zuko and sigh. Holding his hand in mine, I lay my head on the mattress. 'Shouldn't he have woken up by now? What if he never does?!' I ask myself as I close my eyes for a second.

The feeling of fingers brushing my hair made me jump up and look at the person. Happiness takes over me and I jump on top of Zuko, hugging him and kissing his cheek.

"You scared me!" I say whining, a single tear running down my cheek. He brushes it away with the back of his hand. I hold it and kiss the inside of it.

"I'm sorry, miss «I'm too tough for everything»" He jokes and makes me laugh a little. I look back at Zuko's eyes and kiss him, wrapping my arms around his neck to pull him closer. His hands wrap around my waist doing the same.

"Don't ever leave me... My Fire Lord"
