"Jennie."
His voice was mute in the background as my pencil met paper. My thoughts were consumed with describing my past using words of passion and desire.
"Jennie!"
There was a earth shattering crack in my trail of thought, snapping my attention to the smiling man in front of me, begging for my attention. I sighed, placing my weapon of choice on top of my notebook.
"As beautiful as you look hypnotized by your own writing..."
He sets my notebook to the side, to replace its absence with a plate of perfectly golden French toast and raspberries. My frown is replaced with a huge grin, my stomach making its emptiness known to the beautiful smell. He giggles at the sound.
"Surely you would starve if you didn't have me to take you out of your writing spell every once and awhile."
I smiled at my beautiful husband in gratitude.
"I actually am finishing the last chapter today."
He tilts his head.
"Is that so?"
I nod in excitement.
"However the ending is too important, I may need your help perfecting it."
He nods and looks at his watch.
"Martha," he calls out to our housekeeper.
The soft expression I have come accustomed to knowing well joins us.
"Yes, sir?"
He smiles at me and then turns to her.
"Would you mind clearing my schedule for the day?"
She nods.
"I will reschedule everything planned for today for you and make the calls. Enjoy your time together."
She smiles and winks at me before leaving. My cheeks flush pink at the insinuation.
"You could've helped me tonight, you didn't have to clear your day for me."
He shakes his head.
"Like you said, the ending is important, and you my wife are the most important thing in my life. Anything important to you is more important than my daily activities."
I smile before taking a bite of the breakfast he made for me. He leans in and gives me a peck on the cheek.
"After you are done eating, let's start from the beginning."
I nod full of joy to have his attention for the day.
...
We sit down across from each other in the sun room. He looks over at me sipping from his coke on ice.
"Now tell me, what is this story about?"
I smile and nod looking down at my weathered notebook.
"It's about when I moved to New York."
He smirks.
"I'm listening."
I open to the first page of my story and then immediately teleport myself back into the time this all happened.
...
From the second I could see the city from the air, I was immediately hypnotized by its charm. I couldn't stop smiling at the possibilities this city would bring. And the smile stayed on my face all the way until I reached my new home just outside the city on the lake. It's beauty shown being hugged in ivy and the perfectly overgrown flowers that breathed into its atmosphere. The taxi roared off back into the city catching my attention. As it left I noticed the extravagant house neighboring mine, my eyes being drawn to a man in the window on the top floor. However, I was unable to make out his face before he shut the curtain vastly in a cold manner. I frown, but a smile soon replaced it as I step inside my new home.
