Haruka left without saying goodbye.
Layka's concerns were elsewhere, concerned with Haruka being put in danger and concerned with being found. She was concerned with changing her identity again along with Haruka. Practically every other thing under the sun when you're responsible for countless deaths and sacrifices. When you're a criminal on the run.
But Haruka left without saying goodbye.
Haruka knew that she couldn't mention her disappearance. She'd run away before, yeah, but she never had any ties. She never had anyone around that would miss her.
But this time, Haruka had someone who'd miss her. A detective who she'd known since grade school, who unlike the other kids, wouldn't make fun of her for being homeless or anything like that.
And it stuck with her. Not saying goodbye to him, never seeing him again, it stuck with her all throughout the time they were running away.
Did Layka have someone like that?
As Haruka rested her head on the window of the airplane, it was full of thoughts.. would Shuichi miss her like she missed him? Would he look for her? Would he find her?
Layka grabbed Haruka's hand, trying to remedy the thoughts she was experiencing.. trying to comfort her. But Haruka didn't squeeze back, she didn't lace their fingers together. "I'm tired." She said, looking back at Layka. "is that ever going to stop?"
