Who Is She?

Haruka ran her fingers over soft fabric. She stared up at the ceiling, glancing over at Layka cuddled up against her side. Softly, peacefully asleep.

Too bad Haruka just couldn't get to sleep in the same way.

Quietly, she admired her girlfriend, turning to her side in bed and resting her cheek on her hands. Haruka ran her fingers through Layka's hair, sighing quietly and trying not to be as.. wide awake. Keeping her mind solely focused on the silky, smooth texture of her girlfriend's hair between her fingers, focused intently on not waking her.

Layka's pale, colourless skin glowed in the moonlight through the window, and Haruka leaned in, gently planting a kiss on her forehead after brushing some of her hair away. No matter how unhappy she might've been here, no matter how much she disliked living in this city that was completely different from her life back home, Haruka still loved Layka. She loved her dearly, terribly.. that's what she promised, after all. That she would love her until the end of time. Forever and always.

But sometimes for Haruka, it was just difficult to remember that through the hardships. It was difficult to show, difficult to stay grounded when she missed the people she left behind. That was all it was. Wherever Layka went, Haruka would follow behind, like an obedient puppy. "I love you, Layks." She hummed softly, running her fingers through her hair and closing her eyes.

"So much.. this just sucks, you know. I miss Japan. I miss my hair, my abandoned rooftop, I miss a lot of stuff.." Haruka always found talking to Layka to be comforting. Her smooth words spilled out in Japanese.. her native language. "So all this sucks. I feel bad.. I wish maybe you hadn't brought me. I drag you down."

Haruka sighed softly, trying to fall asleep. She kissed her girlfriend's head, watching light slowly fill the room as the sun rose. Just another sleepless night..
