The day that Haruka went missing, all of Shuichi's effort focused immediately on finding her.
No, not even the day.. the exact moment that he texted her and she didn't answer, that he called her and she didn't answer; the moment he saw she just disappeared from the internet without a trace, he focused immediately on finding her. But nothing turned up.
The girl he'd known since the small age of six, who supported him and tried her best and loved him like they were brother and sister - gone, without any trace. Gone from her house along with Ms. Layka Takahashi. He would be honest.. he suspected that Layka did something to her. It got even more curious that he couldn't find anything about her. No records, no nothing. Layka Takahashi was nowhere, was no one.
How could he be so blind? He always knew Layka was off.. she spoke formally, in broken Japanese, but never spoke about her native language or where she came from. She hid different aspects of herself, even from Haruka, and Shuichi never questioned it. He never wanted to break them up, especially because of how much he knew Haruka loved her.
He didn't want to make her unhappy, and now she was gone.
The police wouldn't help, so he took it into his own hands. He'd seen how the police failed so many missing persons cases, and these were one of the cases he was rather good at.. of course he would do it. But she just left no trace. No text goodbye, no letter, no nothing. He didn't know how he'd find her.
Another tiresome night. Unfortunately for him, he found nothing. Nothing new about Layka, nothing on the whereabouts of the two, and he was progressively getting more and more tired. He could hardly keep his eyes open, his handwriting was messier than usual, and coffee didn't even help.. he'd just been sleepless for a few nights. He just couldn't pass out. He couldn't..
The room around him darkened again, and his head landed on his desk with a soft thud.
