This was the last day of my childhood! This whole year, with it's milestones, being the bumps on a road, or a knot in a shoestring or cut in a bowl of jello. My hormones majorly kicked in. I started my period, dated plenty of people, and fell in love. This was the last day of the year. I was pretty happy during the first half, spending time with Star and Kristi in social studies. Then, we had eighth grade t-shirt and yearbook signing. It was quiet, in my head. Of course not in real life. That was chaos. But I went along with it. We had a fun run in the calendar chart of the day. Dayton and I stuck together most of the time, and it was really sweet. Most of the run itself was pretty mellow.

I was nearing the end. The finish line was up ahead. Dayton finished before me, and was waiting at the end. He caught up with me and helped me finish, cheering me on as I ran. It was so sweet, and utterly romantic. When I finished, he raced up to me. I wanted to give him a high five, so I put my hands up. But when he came up, he wrapped his arms around me in a full on hug. It was long, tight, and warm. He locked me in a goodbye embrace. When he pulled back, he gave me a huge grin and raced off to find Chelsey.
To this day, I still remember how warm and long the hug was.
