Quill's POV:
I was confused as to why Irene was letting me roam around the house. The only thing that was different was that I barely saw anyone except Irene's servants. I would see the Divine Warriors wandering around from time to time and they would smile at me, fake obviously, which made this situation even more strange. I questioned if this was some sick method that was meant to get to my head. To make me weak in some way.
I had examined any way to get out but all potential exits were guarded or locked with a key that I couldn't find. I was running any remaining options in my mind...then, it hit me.The attic. The key may still be in Gabriella's room.
I left my room and made my way to Gabriella's. Everything was still in it's proper place showing that no one had touched it since she left. I rummaged through the drawers, tossed through the sheets, looked under the pillows. I was losing hope until I found the small brass key on the dresser. I took a sigh a relief, hoping that this could be my ticket out. I sneakily made my way to the door that led to the steps that went up to the attic. I looked around my shoulder and saw Shad and Enki making their way down the hall with Irene in between them. I slipped behind a pillar and kept as stiff as possible.
"Do you two understand the mission?", Irene asked them.
"Find Gabriella,", Enki stated.
"And keep a close eye on her,", Shad finished. "Are you sure you know what you're doing?"
"I know my daughter is now looking for the relic,", Irene sighed. "Since she has blood connection to it, it could draw her towards it. She might not know it yet but, she can grow the capability to track it herself. So, if she does, I need you two to grab it before she does. That's why I need you to find her."
"What should we do if-"
"Kill them,", Irene spat, interrupting the men. "Kill anyone if they come in your way. Even Gabriella if you have to."
"But, m'lady, you do understand that if we kill Gabriella, we lose support completely,", Enki urged her.
"If that's the case, I'll show them that I am the true ruler of Ru'an and there won't ever be another one when we get that relic in our hands. If I need another child, I'll make one if that's what they want. We'll figure it out."
"Yes m'lady,", Shad smirked, looking down at Irene.
They turned the corner, leaving me alone. At the moment, I was a terrified for my friends and siblings. The fact that I wasn't there made it worse. I had to keep calm though and trust that they'll be fine. I unlocked the door to the attic and made my way up the stairs.
"I can't believe she left all of this stuff here,", I gawked at all the things I immediately saw once I entered the room. There were so many artifacts littered around that just screamed knowledge. I started to look around for any windows and just my luck...there were none. "Crap..."
So this trip wasn't completely wasted, I started to rummage around. I opened boxes and chests finding just photos, books, toys, other objects, and papers. I decided to open any personal stuff like letters but, it was hard when I saw one dating back from 1778; shocked to see it still in tack. I opened a chest and my eyes fell onto a necklace. It was one with iridescent crystals attached to a delicate gold chain. It seemed that two were missing, leaving three on. I recognized it from one of my books back at the cottage so, I decided to pocket it so I could come back to it later.
As I was about to leave, I look in the corner to see probably one of the most important artifacts in Ru'an's history. Garroth Ro'Meave's diamond sword. I was shocked that Irene hadn't trashed or destroyed it. She was pretty adamant to erase his influence in Ru'an.
I went over and grabbed it gently. I was shocked to find that it was still in pretty good shape. I decided to take it along as well and stash it somewhere in my room. With that, I left the attic and started of thinking of other options to get out....
Gabriella's POV:
"Are you sure you'll be able to do this? I was barely able to do it,", Zane asked me.
I was trying to sense the Ro'Meave relic instead of having Zach doing it since he was so little and I didn't want to tire him.
"I'm going to at least try,", I assured him, looking back at him and the others. I was wearing my armor and decided to wear my father's cape as a way to maybe getting a stronger connection to it. Also, I just wanted to. I'm not going to lie though I was nervous. If I wasn't able to do this, we were just going to go on a scavenger hunt when the Divine Warriors are probably two steps ahead of us already. I looked at Grey who just smiled at me softly while Naya gave me a thumbs up; Ember hopping slightly in excitement. I closed my eyes and tried to reach out for the relic. I remember my father explaining that relics had ties to possible holders and that's why the relic went to him the moment Zane temporarily died before becoming a Shadow Knight.
"Please...Please be out there...", I begged in my head.
Then, I heard distant whispers from down the path. I tried to identify which direction they were coming from. When I opened my eyes, I was facing the way to O'Khasis.
"It's down there,", I say.
"Well...", Zane sighed. "I guess it's about time I went home."
"And we'll be by your side the whole time!", Dylan added. "Don't worry!"
"So, what are we waiting for?", Penny asked.
"Ella?", Degory asked, looking at me for direction.
I guess I was now the leader...now they were looking to me for commands. I rang my father's blue cape through my fingers. I took a deep breath and said with a smirk; "Let's go!"
