"I'm sorry but you are not qualified to work here due to you incomplete secondary education and a suspicious background, please make your way to the exit and thank you for applying, have a great day!" The receptionist lady bluntly said smiling to me, I bowed and slowly turn away and head to where the exit is while I could hear the receptionists talking behind me, saying how I was weird for not completing my education and have a weird resume. I ignored it and left the place where I was trying to apply for.

This is the 13th time I've been rejected from applying to work all different kinds of jobs ever since the Smittens fired me a week ago and it still hurts a little bit. Should I beg them for it? but I'm not that kind of person that would stoop so low to do that.

I stopped thinking about it as I pulled myself together and think positive stuff. After walking for a few hours on a hot day searching from different work stations to convenience stores I decided to call it a day and head home at sundown.

~at the Sunny Boarding house~

I grab my phone and dial the Landlord's contact number as I put my phone to my ear waiting for him to pick it up as I am patiently waiting outside of his apartment on the 1st floor of the Sunny Boarding house after knocking 3 times.

"Hello? Who is this?" A grumpy old man answered.

"Good Evening Mr. Appleton! This is Winter, I am right here outside wai-"

"Winter who?" He said cutting me off forgetting about me.

"It's Winter Belle Wister, um the girl that has been living on the 2nd floor on top of your apartment?" I calmly said to him trying to remember me. After I said that there was a long silence at the other end of the phone.

"Um hello?" I said to hear if he is still there.

"Who??" He said in a grumpy tone.

"Ah, The only person to pay rent money directly to you?" I politely said.

"...OH, IT'S YOU WINTER!" He loudly shouts as his voice causes a little sting on my hearing due to his loud energetic voice.

"Y-yes, yes that is me," I said to him.

"Why didn't YOU SAY SO! Where are you now??" He suddenly said.

"I'm now outside of your place-" I was about to finish what I said but he suddenly put the phone down.

"Hello? Mr. Appleton?" I said waiting for him to answer but there was no answer. Suddenly I put my phone back inside of my leather slingback as I hear the keys opening the door inside, the door opened and see a grumpy old man standing at the door with hand holding the doorknob in his 60's with a beer belly hanging out wearing a white t-shirt with a ketchup stain on it and black basketball shorts and flippers. I glance at his room inside and see that there are trash, beer bottles scattered all over the floor of his place.

"You hear to pay up?" He said in a grumpy tone as he put his hand out to me waiting for me to give him the rent money.

"Ah about that can I-" I try to negotiate If I can still live here just for a couple of days until I can find a job.

"What you can't pay up??" He cuts me off as he raised his voice on me, and closes the door so hard that I can feel its impact blowing at my face and I hear him locking the door inside.

"IF YOU CAN'T PAY UP, DON'T BOTHER COMING HERE AND ALSO I WANT YOU OUT FIRST THING IN THE MORNING!!" He loudly yelled at me inside of his room.

Well, my persuasion plan failed, but for an old man like him, he still energetic but still kinda mean.
