Chapter Five: The Portal

I found my things thrown at the Dumpster in the back alleyway and there were lots of trash piling up there like it has its junkyard of the Sunny Boarding house and I was searching it for 10 minutes before I finally found my stuff and, I am still a little bit furious of Mr. Appleton because he decidedly gets rid of my things without my consent, because of him my only Pajamas and 2 sets of clothing are now dirty and also stinky but at least no one stole it or anything cause that would be bad for me. But look on the bright side I can still wash them good as new and I did manage to save my hygiene kit and I have a job now! I just realized that I was still on my foot socks and It was now covered with dust and things that I don't want to know.

I slowly walk my way back where the Sol's Coffee House is located as I pass strangers glancing at me and some avoided me as they thought that I am one of the Hobos roaming around the street. I finally reach the Coffee Shop and could see Mr. Al sitting cross-legged at one of the tables spacing out from the window shop, I climbed a couple of steps and before I stepped inside, I took off my dirty foot socks and put them along with my big paper bag containing dirty clothes. Now barefooted because this is an only clean part, as I opened the door sounding the bell hanging on top.
"I'm Back!" I said in a tired tone trying to sound it more hyper but couldn't.
Mr. Al snapped back into reality and looks at me stunned wondering what happened to me because my hair was in disarray and my white dress was now stained by dirt from the junkyard and some of the trash and barefooted.

"..." He didn't say anything but still looking at me flabbergasted and after that, he stands up and suddenly take my paper bag and hold it.

"Let's go back" He monotonously said to me as he faces away and starts walking his way and I was about to say that he doesn't need to hold my things but I immediately cut off and heard locking the shop door and covered the big open window with the curtains and suddenly opens the door him opening it. I am still a little bit surprised to see what he can do but I immediately follow him to the White door with an in carved symbol and he opened the door using his arm this time and lets me go first as I closed my eyes and stepped inside the Phirring Portal.

I heard the door closing behind me and I opened my eyes to see that we are in his house again in the hallway. No matter how I try to forget that everything is real it always amazes me.

Oh right, my things.

"Thank you for holding my things Mr. Al but I need to wash it first since they are dirty" I gently took the paper bag from him and he slightly nods.
"..and that is yours" he monotonously said to me and I wondered what he meant by that. He slightly looks down to the floor and I also followed where he was looking at and I am flabbergasted to see that I was now wearing brown timberland boots that I've always wanted to buy! but also greatly shock inside to see that I was wearing it with no idea how it was suddenly there and I didn't feel anything from my feet. As I am processing my thoughts he suddenly said.

"..Like it?" with a blank expression.
Unable to contain my happiness for the boots I excitedly nod my head after what he said. And he put a soft smile and revert to his blank usual face.

What I have seen is a blessing to my eyes for a split 3 seconds. I wish he could smile more but I don't think he's not used to it.

"What are you going to do for today Winter? He said as we were walking down the long hallway back to the staircase.

"After I wash my clothes, I'll buy some groceries first so I can cook for you!" I replied.

"...Do you have money?" he bluntly asks and after hearing that I stopped walking and I was faced with hard facts right into my face, I try to avoid his question because I brought it up to him and now I am embarrassed to talk about it, He stopped walking now further at me. and turns his head to face me.
