Wishes

Shan Shan's head was in a whirl. The last time she felt like this was when she saw Li Shu kissing Feng Teng. Her head was splitting, and her thoughts were jumbled. She wanted to block everything out and start again.

 In the meanwhile, Feng Teng was worried about her colour. Shan Shan looked so pale and tired.

He started to dial the doctor's number when she realized what he was doing, she held his hand, stopping him mid-motion.'Don't call the doctor. I am fine, I just did not eat lunch, so I felt a bit dizzy. It's fine.. it's fine now.' He slowly let her calm down and picked her up, carrying her to the sofa he asked her, 'where were you, Shan Shan? What happened? Why were you back there in the kitchen?' 

Shan Shan still couldn't think - she got us slowly and made her way to bed. It was like she was on autopilot. 

Too tired after an exhausting day she fell deeply asleep.

It was past midnight, thirst made her get up, and she realized he held her tight, in his arms, protected and safe, how could she think he would not protect her child. 

But she heard her husband say he did not want children. 

Her thoughts were jumbled, she slipped out of bed and made her way to the living room, Trying to think who she can discuss this conundrum with? She reached out to call her mother when she remembered that this problem was actually due to her parents. Her fathers wishes of not having children for three years after marriage and Feng Teng's desire to be a filial son in law. 

But life did not work that way....

She spent the rest of the night curled up in the sofa trying to come up with a solution for this problem.She did not want her child to feel unloved, and she knew that right now, she was hurt and bewildered at want she had to go through.

Next day dawned to Feng Teng waking up alone in his bed, it was usually him that woke up first so was naturally surprised. When he saw Shan Shan resting on the sofa, he was even more surprised. Her face was again flushed, and when he touched her, she seemed to be running a fever. He usually never lost his cool, but yesterday Feng Yue was irritating, but the end result was he felt he made Shan Shan feel bad. 

It was not the first time that Shan Shan got hurt with his behaviour, he could never forget her face when she first faced Li Shu and him kissing. 

He slowly caressed her hair, and it was still early, so he slowly lifted her up and put her back on the bed. 

Unfortunately, work does not wait for anyone, and he was in the middle of a takeover bid. He got ready and waited till Shan Shan stirred from sleep. Linda, his secretary, was already downstairs but he did not feel like leaving until he knew that she was ok.

Staring at his sleeping wife, he felt conflicted about not calling the doctor. Feng Teng saw her eyes were open, the gaze was soft and looked like glowing amber, cheeks were round and smooth, she looked so sweet that he wanted to stop all his work and eat her up.

'Feng Teng, did you not have the takeover meeting?' She asked curiously. As she shifted back a bit, putting a bit of distance between them. 

He took her in his arms again and sighed ' I am leaving now, just wanted to wait for you to wake up before I left. It's a long trip, are you sure you can't come with me?' He asked again. 

'Not this time' she replied, meeting his eyes. She really did not want to take a trip abroad in her first trimester.

'Ok, take care, and I can come back if anything is urgent 'he reiterated before he got up. 

She slowly walked him to the door and went to the window to see him off. As the car sped away, Shan Shan drifted off .. wondering what her next steps should be...
