After Shocks - Part 11

After Feng Teng left, she went back to sleep. The skies were still grey and gloomy when she finally awoke a couple of hours later.

The apartment was still and silent. She pottered around the kitchen and finally decided to step out.

Shan Shan remembered a bookstore near her house.

There she wandered along the aisles searching for books on pregnancy, with a juice in her hand, she finally let her mind drift to the stubborn men in her life.

Her father and Feng Teng were very protective and loving, but this situation was giving her a headache.

Finishing her shopping, she went back to meet with Liu Liu. The store was bustling.... the new Ad that had come out was doing well. Shan Shan was filled with pride, this was once her baby too after all.

Slowly making her way, she walked up and went towards the office. Liu Liu was sitting in front of the computer and was trying to do some work. At seeing Shan Shan walk in, she immediately got up and said.

'Thank God - I was wondering how to manage this rush with this work as well, I was just going to call you to come and help. Can you take a look that this? Fix this, please. Thanks, Shan Shan....'

Liu Liu promptly turned all the accounting issues to her and ran to help Wang Hong in taking care of the customers.

A couple of hours later, with the work finally, in a better state, Shan Shan wearily rubbed her eyes.

The late nights, the current stress and work suddenly caught up with her, and she swayed where she stood.

Thankfully Wang Hong was taking a break and caught Shan Shan in a vice-like grip and made her sit down on the sofa next to the computer.

"Shan Shan, are you feeling ok? Should I call Liu Liu for you?" He asked.

Shan Shan just lowered her head and waited for her head to stop going round and round.

This panicked Wang Hong so much that he shouted for her cousin loudly and before Shan Shan knew it. She was pressed into the sofa surrounded by everyone.

Thankfully Shan Shan calmed everyone down saying she already had an appointment with her specialist and was going to go there now...

Liu Liu insisted on someone going to the Doctor with her. Still, with the current rush in the store, they agreed that Liu Liu would take care of the shop affairs and Wang Hong would accompany her to the Doctor.

This was the same person who had taken care of her when she had the ruptured uterus. She went into the hospital with Wang Hong but told him to leave and come back a bit later as she had to go through a couple of tests.

But after the tests and the endless wait to meet the Doctor, an exhausted Shan Shan was regretting coming by herself. Finally, she was face to face with the Doctor and saw he was looking stern and severe.

His low voice rumbled "Mrs Teng, Its been only 2 and a half years since the operation. I wish you could have waited a couple of more years."

She suddenly felt her heart drop.

He still looked at the chats and papers and the computer in front of him and did not see the effect this sentence had on Shan Shan.

She finally understood that this was why Feng Teng was against her having a baby. But now it was too late, and she instinctively touched her still flat belly. Besides it was not planned at all, she wondered if Feng Teng even realized that this could happen.
